Trump demands Kamala Harris should 'be investigated', wants Joe Biden to replace her in unhinged rant
WASHINGTON, DC: Former president Donald Trump took to his Truth Social platform to unleash a flurry of accusations against Vice President Kamala Harris and CBS.
In a fiery post, Trump accused CBS of editing Harris' interview on '60 Minutes', calling it election interference, and demanded Harris should be investigated and removed from the Democratic ticket, reported Mediaite.
Trump’s post comes after a series of grievances against the media giant, including his call to revoke CBS's broadcasting license.
Donald Trump demands Kamala Harris should 'be investigated'
On Thursday, October 16, Donald Trump escalated his ongoing battle with the media by zeroing in on the editing of Harris's '60 Minutes' interview, which aired earlier this month.
This latest outburst was part of his continued efforts to challenge mainstream media narratives that he deems unfair.
Trump demanded that CBS be stripped of its broadcast license, citing what he views as the network's deliberate manipulation of Harris' interview.
He even went a step further by suggesting that Harris should be investigated and removed from the 2024 presidential race, calling on President Joe Biden to replace her at the top of the Democratic ticket.
In his post, Trump wrote, "60 MINUTES SHOULD BE IMMEDIATELY TAKEN OFF THE AIR – ELECTION INTERFERENCE. CBS SHOULD LOSE ITS LICENSE. THIS IS THE BIGGEST SCANDAL IN BROADCAST HISTORY. Kamala should be investigated and forced off the Campaign, and Joe Biden allowed to take back his rightful place (He got 14 Million Primary Votes, she got none!). THIS WHOLE SORDID AND FRAUDULENT EVENT IS A THREAT TO DEMOCRACY!"
The former president's tirade didn't end there. He also linked a Fox News article that supports his claims to the post.
The article, titled 'CBS accused of ‘significant and intentional news distortion’ in FCC complaint over ‘60 Minutes’ edit', outlines the growing criticisms CBS has faced for the alleged editing of Harris’ interview.
Trump’s post referenced the same Fox News piece as evidence of the seriousness of his accusations.
Donald Trump’s accusations against Kamala Harris extends beyond media manipulation
Despite Donald Trump’s outcry, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) had already weighed in on the issue.
FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel responded to Trump’s previous call to revoke CBS's license, releasing a statement that firmly pushed back against the former president’s demands.
"While repeated attacks against broadcast stations by the former President may now be familiar, these threats against free speech are serious and should not be ignored," Rosenworcel said.
She further added, "As I’ve said before, the First Amendment is a cornerstone of our democracy. The FCC does not and will not revoke licenses for broadcast stations simply because a political candidate disagrees with or dislikes content or coverage."
Trump’s accusations extended beyond media manipulation as he directly called Harris’ qualifications into question.
In a second post on Thursday, Trump once again unleashed a scathing attack on Harris, implying that the editing of her interview was an attempt to cover up her incompetence.
He demanded that CBS release the unedited footage of Harris’ interview and continued to question her ability to hold office.
"Why won’t 60 Minutes release the fraudulent tapes of Lyin’ Kamala’s Interview with them? Could it be because it was a COMPLETE AND TOTAL DISASTER, or that they ‘CREATED’ many additional new answers for her, not just the one where she was so embarrassingly CAUGHT," Trump raged.
He added, "In normal times, what happened on 60 Minutes, (deceptively 'doctoring' her answers), would be THE END OF ANYONE’S CAMPAIGN! Kamala is slow, incoherent, and is in no way qualified to be President of the United States. RELEASE THE TAPES FOR THE GOOD OF AMERICA. We can do it the nice way, or the hard way!"
Trump’s fury appears to stem from two versions of Harris’ response to the same question, aired on different CBS programs.
One version appeared in a promotional clip for 'Face the Nation', while the other aired on '60 Minutes'.
The differences between these edits have sparked heated debate, especially within conservative media, though CBS maintains that the edits were standard practice and that the Harris campaign was not involved in the final production decisions.
