WASHINGTON, DC: In a recent development, former President Donald Trump stirred controversy by sharing a post from conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer on his Truth Social platform, as reported by Mediaite.

The post falsely questioned Vice President Kamala Harris' racial identity, igniting a firestorm of criticism. The incident occurred just weeks before the Democratic National Convention, where Harris is expected to be formally nominated as the Democratic candidate.

During an appearance at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) convention, Trump made headlines with his comments about Harris.

He said, "I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black," and further questioned, "So, I don’t know. Is she Indian or is she Black?" These remarks were made in response to a question from Rachel Scott, the senior congressional correspondent for ABC News.

Scott challenged Trump on his past derogatory remarks about Black individuals and journalists, including calling Black district attorneys "animals" and "rabid."

In response, Trump labeled Scott's question as "horrible," stating, "I’ve never been asked a question in such a horrible manner."

The interview, initially scheduled for an hour, was abruptly cut short by Trump's team after just 34 minutes, raising further speculation about his approach to engaging Black voters.

Trump's involvement in the controversy deepened when he shared a post by Loomer, who claimed that Harris "is NOT black and never has been."

Loomer referenced a purported birth certificate listing Harris’ father as Jamaican and her mother as Caucasian, attempting to discredit Harris's identity.

She argued that Harris' Indian heritage, as highlighted in a CNN segment, contradicted her identification as Black. "Not only does Kamala Harris’s own birth certificate prove that she is LYING about being black, but CNN even once did a whole video interview about how Kamala is INDIAN," Loomer wrote.

Trump's decision to share Loomer's post has been seen as a strategic move to undermine Harris' credibility and appeal, especially among Black voters.

With President Joe Biden ending his reelection bid, Harris stands as the presumptive Democratic nominee, and Trump's campaign has seemingly shifted its focus to attacking her identity.
