He singled out Secretary of State Marco Rubio in particular, predicting that the Florida Republican will be remembered as the greatest to hold the post.
Trump framed the moment as a reflection of his team’s performance during the first year of his second term, crediting Rubio with sharpening his own approach to foreign policy and describing the Secretary’s work as “fantastic.”

Recalling an early conversation with his top diplomat, Trump told the audience, “Marco Rubio, he said, ‘Let me teach you about diplomacy.’”
The President then invited Rubio to stand for recognition. Rubio, who also serves as National Security Adviser, rose from his seat.
“You have done a great job as Secretary of State,” Trump said. “He’s going to go down as the best Secretary of State.” The remarks positioned Rubio at the forefront of Trump’s foreign policy narrative on one of the world’s most prominent economic stages.
Wiles named ‘best chief of staff’
Trump extended similar praise to White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, calling her the “best chief of staff” and asking her to stand alongside Rubio.
According to session reports, the response was mixed, with only some attendees applauding when Trump asked Wiles and Rubio to stand, highlighting the gap between the administration’s inner circle and parts of the Davos audience.
‘Number one oil man’ delivers deals
The President also highlighted Energy Secretary Chris Wright, pointing to his role in advancing energy agreements, including efforts involving Venezuela.
“He’s the number one oil man in the world,” Trump said. The remark aligned with the administration’s emphasis on energy production and securing overseas resources as part of its economic and strategic agenda.
Cabinet shout-outs amid Davos crowd
Trump rounded out his remarks by naming additional officials, including Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, crediting them with driving the administration’s trade and fiscal strategy. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum was also acknowledged.
The series of shout-outs seemed intended to showcase a unified, confident leadership team to the international audience in Switzerland.
