Trump says he would accept Nobel Peace Prize from Machado, committee says it cannot be transferred
WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump said he would accept the Nobel Peace Prize from Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, a claim that was swiftly dismissed by the Norwegian Nobel Committee, which clarified that the prize cannot be transferred or shared under its rules.
Trump made the remarks while reacting to comments from Machado, who suggested she would like to “share” her Nobel Peace Prize with him for his role in international diplomacy.
Trump claims credit for stopping ‘eight wars’
Speaking in an interview with Sean Hannity, Trump said he believed he deserved the Nobel Peace Prize for what he described as his role in halting multiple global conflicts.
“I stopped eight wars,” Trump said. “When you stop eight wars, you should get one Nobel Prize for each war.”
Trump also took aim at the Nobel Committee’s past decisions, calling the situation “a major embarrassment to Norway.”
“I don't know what Norway has to do with it but a lot of Norwegian people are on the committee,” he said.
Trump added that he would have “no problem” accepting the Peace Prize if Machado chose to give it to him.

Nobel Committee says prize cannot be transferred
The Norwegian Nobel Institute pushed back on Trump’s remarks, stressing that Nobel Peace Prizes cannot be reassigned, transferred, or shared after they are awarded.
“There is no possibility for a Nobel Peace Prize to be transferred from one laureate to another,” Erik Aasheim, a spokesperson for the Norwegian Nobel Institute, said, according to reports. “The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded by the Nobel Committee, and that decision is final.”
The spokesperson further noted that while Nobel laureates may choose how to use their prize money, the title and recognition itself cannot be passed on to anyone else.
Insiders claim Nobel acceptance cost Machado her Venezuela leadership
According to the latest reports, Trump became disinclined to back Machado as the next president of Venezuela after she accepted the Nobel Peace Prize.
Reports suggest that Machado’s decision was perceived by Trump as an “ultimate sin,” arguing, “If she had turned it down, she’d be the president of Venezuela today.”
Remember, Machado had praised Trump after Maduro's arrest.
