LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK: Former President Donald Trump expressed his dissatisfaction on Tuesday night after the Democrats were projected to turn over the New York House seat, which was previously held by the disgraced ex-Republican congressman George Santos.

Trump took to Truth Social and criticized Mazi Pilip, the debutant GOP candidate in the special election in New York's 3rd Congressional District, by referring to her as a "very foolish woman" and admonishing her for distancing herself from him, according to a report by The Hill.

The 77-year-old Republican presidential front-runner posted on his social networking platform, “Republicans just don’t learn, but maybe she was still a Democrat? I have an almost 99% Endorsement Success Rate in Primaries, and a very good number in the General Elections, as well, but just watched this very foolish woman, Mazi Melesa Pilip, running in a race where she didn’t endorse me and tried to ‘straddle the fence,’ when she would have easily WON if she understood anything about MODERN DAY politics in America.”

Who did Mazi Pilip lose the seat for New York’s 3rd congressional district to?

Pilip, who had been registered as a Democrat since 2012, suffered a defeat at the hands of former Rep Tom Suozzi (D) on Tuesday, February 13.

In the closely contested district, which had voted for President Joe Biden in the 2020 elections, Pilip had maintained a safe distance from Trump throughout her campaign.

However, during an interview with Fox 5, Pilip did acknowledge that Trump had "done great things for the country."

“MAGA, WHICH IS MOST OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY, STAYED HOME – AND IT ALWAYS WILL, UNLESS IT IS TREATED WITH THE RESPECT THAT IT DESERVES,” Trump continued in his Tuesday night post. “I STAYED OUT OF THE RACE, ‘I WANT TO BE LOVED!’ GIVE US A REAL CANDIDATE IN THE DISTRICT FOR NOVEMBER. SUOZZI, I KNOW HIM WELL, CAN BE EASILY BEATEN!”

The recent House special election was perceived as a probable indicator of the upcoming November elections.

Pilip aimed to associate Suozzi with Biden, whose approval ratings have been persistently low throughout his presidency, and criticized him for his stance on immigration.

Suozzi, on the other hand, made a deliberate attempt to dissociate himself from President Joe Biden by positioning himself as a moderate consensus-builder and endorsing a bipartisan border deal that was subsequently rejected by the Republicans.

This election assumes significance as the country braces itself for a possible Biden-Trump rematch come November, this year.

The concerns over President Joe Biden's age resurfaced last week after Special Counsel Robert Hur's report raised doubts about the incumbent’s cognitive abilities.

Trump, on the other hand, has caused consternation over his efforts to restructure the Republican Party by supporting his close associate, North Carolina's GOP Chair, Michael Whatley, in addition to his daughter-in-law Lara Trump, for the leadership positions in the Republican National Committee (RNC).

Internet slams Trump for reprimanding Pilip following her electoral defeat

People on X shredded the former president's claims and championed Pilip for putting up a commendable electoral fight against a Democrat veteran in Tom Suozzi.

One X user remarked: "Bro couldn’t even win his own re-election lol".

Another user said, "MAGA is at its heart misogynistic. No shock there."

Another user wrote: "Didn’t kiss the ring".

One user claimed: "He indeed does not have a 99% endorsement success rate."

Another X user quipped: "How’d Trump’s endorsement of Dr. Oz, Herschel, Doug Mastriano, Kelly Loeffler, David Perdue, and dozens of others work out for him?"

Finally, this user tweeted: "All he knows how to do is insult people and claim credit for things he had nothing to do with".
