MIAMI, FLORIDA: In a challenging turn of events for the Miami Dolphins, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion during a 31-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night.

Tagovailoa, who was already facing scrutiny over his health following multiple concussions in the previous season, was sidelined after a hard hit from Bills safety Damar Hamlin, as reported by Essentially Sports.

Tua Tagovailoa, known for his resilience, had previously contemplated retirement due to health concerns but chose to continue his football career. After a promising 2023 season, where he achieved career highs in yardage and touchdowns, the recent injury has reignited worries about his long-term well-being.

During the third quarter, with the Dolphins trailing, Tagovailoa ran aggressively for the first down but collided with Hamlin and then struggled to get up. He was eventually helped off the field and replaced by Skylar Thompson. The Dolphins, already down in the game, couldn't recover and the Bills secured a dominant win.

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel expressed deep concern for his quarterback, emphasizing the importance of Tagovailoa's health over immediate game concerns.

McDaniel expressed his concern, saying, “Just worried about my guy. It’s not something you ever want to be a part of.”

Tagovailoa and the Dolphins finalized a four-year, $212.4 million deal in July. Although concerns about his health had not disappeared entirely, they had largely receded after he appeared in every game last season, achieving career highs in yardage (4,624) and touchdowns (29). However, following Thursday night’s events, those health concerns about Tagovailoa are likely to resurface.

Tagovailoa drew significant attention in 2022 after a game against the Bills, where he hit the back of his head on the ground. Following the fall, he wobbled back to the Dolphins' huddle and briefly exited the game, only to return with what was initially called a back injury.

Buffalo Bills dominate Miami Dolphins with strong offensive and defensive performances

The Buffalo Bills continued their dominance over the Miami Dolphins, securing a commanding 31-10 victory. The Bills, led by standout performances from James Cook, who scored three touchdowns, and a crucial defensive touchdown, controlled the game throughout the second half. With this win, the Bills remain unbeaten, starting the season 2-0.

The Dolphins faced an uphill battle from the outset, and the situation worsened when Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion. Earlier in the game, Tagovailoa threw three interceptions, including a critical pick-six by cornerback Ja'Marcus Ingram that widened the score gap to 31-10 at the 9:37 mark in the third quarter. Tagovailoa’s struggle to manage pressure culminated in a blind pass that was easily intercepted and returned for a touchdown.

The game took a more somber turn when Tagovailoa was sidelined due to his head injury. Backup quarterback Skylar Thompson, who completed 8 of 14 passes for 80 yards, expressed deep concern for his teammate, emphasizing their strong bond and personal care.

Both Thompson and Bills quarterback Josh Allen offered heartfelt support for Tagovailoa. Allen, in a postgame interview, praised Tagovailoa’s character, saying, “He’s a great football player but an even greater human being. I got a lot of love for him and am just praying for him and his family.”

The organization, along with Tagovailoa's teammates, has shown strong support and sympathy.

Damar Hamlin, who experienced his own traumatic incident on an NFL field, shared messages of support on X for the player, "My love and prayers with @Tua

fasho.. Sending you strength and healing for a speedy recovery. much love broski."

Rival Patrick Mahomes posted praying hands on X to express his support for the injured quarterback.
