LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Tucker Carlson, former Fox News host and a staunch supporter of Republican politics, has claimed hurricanes are not the result of climate change, but rather divine punishment for the practice of abortion in the United States.

Speaking on Steve Bannon’s 'War Room' podcast on Monday, November 4, Carlson suggested that the nation’s abortion laws might be invoking natural disasters. He characterized abortion as “child sacrifice” and claimed that the severe weather conditions could be a consequence of this action.

Needless to say, his remarks sparked severe backlash and stirred a social media storm.

Tucker Carlson suggests abortion may be invoking natural disasters

Tucker Carlson, who has recently been campaigning for Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential bid, once again ventured into unusual rhetoric.

“I’m sure I’ll be attacked for saying this, but I really believe it. People are like, ‘Oh, well, we had another hurricane, must be global warming',” Carlson began on the Monday episode of 'War Room'.

“No! It’s probably abortion, actually. Just being honest.”

"You can’t kill children on purpose...You can’t participate in human sacrifice without consequences," he continued.

Carlson’s statement echoed similar rhetoric from Christian fundamentalists, referencing the idea that immoral actions—such as abortion—could invoke wrath from a higher power. This view is not new; in 2005, televangelist Pat Robertson famously blamed Hurricane Katrina on America’s acceptance of abortion.

Tucker Carlson claims nuclear technology is 'demonic'

During the same podcast appearance, Carlson went even further into conspiracy theories, claiming that nuclear technology was "demonic" and not a product of human invention.

“Nuclear weapons are demonic, there’s no upside to them at all, and anyone who claims otherwise is either ignorant or doing the bidding of the forces that created nuclear technology in the first place, which were not human forces obviously,” Carlson said.

“Let me ask you this,” he continued. “What was the moment we can point to that nuclear technology was invented? I’ve never met a person who can isolate the moment where nuclear technology became known to man. German scientists in the 1930s? Really? Name the date? It’s very clear to me that these are demonic.”

This comes after Carlson recently claimed he was “physically mauled” by a "demon" one-and-a-half year ago. “I had four claw marks on either side, underneath my arm and left shoulder. And they were bleeding,” he said.

Tucker Carlson’s comments reflect shift toward Christian nationalism

According to the Daily Beast, Tucker Carlson's comments, which have stirred both confusion and outrage, are part of a broader shift in his rhetoric toward more overt Christian nationalism.

His comments about hurricanes being divine punishment for abortion come just weeks after he referred to Trump as a “dad” planning to give the United States a "vigorous spanking," using troubling metaphors to describe the nation’s current state.

Carlson’s increasingly unconventional political commentary has also included offbeat metaphors, such as comparing the 2024 election to a situation where a parent allows their children to misbehave without consequence, leading to inevitable punishment.

"If you allow your 14-year-old to light a joint at the breakfast table...you’re gonna get more of it," Carlson warned during a recent campaign stop in Georgia.

Internet rips Tucker Carlson for claiming hurricanes are divine punishment

Tucker Carlson’s bizarre comments about hurricanes and abortion have sparked an outpouring of reactions on social media, with many users questioning his mental state and credibility.

One user wrote, "Was he always like this, or is he losing it?"

Another user replied, "Tucker Carlson has gone full Alex Jones…."

"It’s gotta be hard to come up with content every day - eventually you get to demons," said one user.

Another commented, "I don't understand how some people treat him as a serious person when he regularly beclowns himself. (Yes, I completely understand that he has been quite successful as a content creator, earns an amazing living doing so, and adds partisan balance to the talking head community.)"

Another remarked, "I don't know what he truly believes, but I increasingly want him to stop talking."

One added, "This is some seriously crazy-a*s bulls**t."
