What did Tyra Banks say about losing her home in LA wildfires?
In an appearance on Sunrise, Tyra Banks, 51, shared that her home was destroyed in the recent LA fires. Speaking to the show, she stated, "Some are doing okay, some are not doing so great."
She shared that when she asked if anyone had lost their home, she realized, "I’m one of them. I lost my house."
She went on to explain, "I haven’t really talked about it but, yeah, I have. I just didn’t want to pull a lot of attention to me, I feel that there's a lot of people that need that attention, so I haven't really talked about it, but I can't sit here and not tell the truth, so yeah we lost our house."
Tyra further described the moment she found out about the destruction of her home: "We were celebrating and just having fun. I kept checking my phone, not for my house, but just for friends and family. I was just making sure they were evacuating and everything."
She added, "Then, I asked my partner, ‘I’m seeing something here. What do you think?’ And he said [she nods]."
After learning her home was gone, Tyra shared how she handled the situation: "And I just pulled it together and didn’t say anything to my friends and stayed in the moment, and we went home and we cried and we had our moment."
She also mentioned that while the property was destroyed, many of their keepsakes were safely stored in Australia or New York, as they were often between the two locations. "So, I didn’t lose those, thank goodness," she said.
