LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Taylor Swift’s curious silence amid Blake Lively’s ‘It Ends With Us’ controversy has left many fans scratching their heads.

The 37-year-old actress has recently been embroiled in multiple controversies surrounding her latest film based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel. Apart from rumors of her feud with ‘It Ends With Us’ director and co-star Justin Baldoni, she was also called out for her “tone deaf” film promotion and unsatisfactory handling of the domestic violence issue.

Recently, an interview of Lively with a Norwegian journalist resurfaced which elicited further controversies because of the actress’ dismissive attitude.

However, amidst all the controversies, her 14-time Grammy-winning songstress best friend -- who opened her Rhode Island house for Lively’s birthday bash -- has not made a single comment supporting her pal.

A source recently opened up to Daily Mail, saying that Swift “did not want to get involved” in Lively’s controversies.

A source close to the ‘Lavender Haze’ singer recently shared the reason for Swift’s silence. They shared that the songstress didn’t “want to get involved because she feared it might negatively impact her own image”.

“When it comes to the wave of bad press around 'It Ends with Us', Taylor did not want to get involved,” explained the source.

They continued, “She has stayed clear of drama, including anything political, and she knew that this was not going to go well if she jumped in to defend her.”

The insider, however, admitted that the ‘Gossip Girl’ alum “completely understood Taylor's perspective, and knows the singer will always be there for her as a best friend and mentor”.

They continued, “Blake understood this and knew she had to navigate this on her own. Taylor will always be there for Blake in her role as a best friend and mentor.”

“Taylor was there to help her through production of 'It Ends With Us' and was flattered to be included in the soundtrack,” said the source.

The source further noted that Swift has extended her support in another form nevertheless. “When Taylor opened her home in RI for her birthday, it was exactly what Blake needed,” noted the source. 

They continued, “She was able to talk to people and get their opinions on how she should handle this and she got some great advice from her friends.”

“Blake knows that the best way to get through this is not to do anything at all for the time being and let it blow over. People will forget,” observed the pal.

Fans were in sync with the theory that Taylor Swift has steered clear of the Blake Lively controversy to protect her own brand. Some even pointed out that it is not the singer's responsibility to fight the 'It Ends With Us' actress's battles.

One of the readers commented online, "Why should Taylor say anything ? even if they're good friends it's not her responsibility to help fight Blake's battles."

Someone else added, "She also wouldn't win either way as whatever she said would have been wrong and twisted, so better just to stay silent."
