LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Fans can't get enough of Jay-Z’s protective instincts toward Beyonce.

A viral video has surfaced showing the rap mogul seemingly instructing his bodyguard to stay close to Beyonce. The clip is short, but it was enough to open the floodgates online. Some fans are praising Jay for looking out for his wife, while others are asking whether this level of protection is a bit too much.

It comes shortly after Beyonce became the queen of the night at the recent Grammy Awards, where she made history once again.

Beyonce’s historic night at the 2025 Grammys

Jay-Z appears to signal to his security detail in the now-viral video to follow Beyonce as she walks up to the stage to collect her award at the 2025 Grammys on February 2, Sunday.

At the music's biggest night, leading all artists with 11 nominations, Beyonce walked away with three trophies, including the highly coveted Album of the Year award for 'Cowboy Carter'. This was a massive moment for Queen Bey, who had been overlooked in this category multiple times in the past.

When her name was announced, her reaction said it all—eyes wide, completely frozen in her seat.

Jay-Z and their daughter Blue Ivy Carter were right there, hyping her up as she took in the moment.

When she finally made it to the stage, her speech was filled with gratitude.

"Wow, I really was not expecting this," she admitted. "I want to thank God, oh my God, that I'm able to still do what I love after so many years."

She also took a moment to thank the artists who embraced 'Cowboy Carter'.

"I'd like to thank all of the incredible country artists that accepted this album," Beyonce continued. "We worked so hard on it. I think sometimes genre is a code word to keep us in our place as artists. And I just want to encourage people to do what they're passionate about, and to say, 'Stay persistent'."

Of course, Beyonce didn’t leave the stage without giving a shout-out to the people who mean the most to her—her family, per E! News.

"Wow, I'd like to thank my beautiful family," she said, looking at Jay-Z and Blue Ivy. "I still am in shock. So thank you so much for this honor."

Her children have been deeply involved in her music career. Just weeks ago, Beyonce and Blue Ivy performed together at an NFL halftime show on Christmas Day. As the Houston Texans took on the Baltimore Ravens, the mother-daughter duo wowed the crowd with hits from 'Cowboy Carter', including 'Ya Ya', 'Riiverdance', 'Jolene', and 'Texas Hold ‘Em'.

Meanwhile, as the clip of Jay-Z instructing his bodyguard to stay extra close to Beyonce went viral, it sparked a debate online. Some fans think it’s just a loving husband being extra cautious. After all, Beyonce is one of the biggest stars on the planet and security is a real concern for someone that famous.

"Telling my bodyguard to watch over my wife as she walks 15 feet that way, is a level of wealth that is aspirational really," one fan posted on X.

"I don't at all even like Jay Z but this is beautiful lol," read a comment.

"Gotta love that protective vibe—bey and blue are stars!" another gushed.

But not everyone was buying it.

"Yeah because they’re gonna get kidnapped at the Grammy’s," one remarked.

"I don’t understand. How the Grammys is a unsafe space? It’s not like another artist will jump on her," someone else wondered.

"You’re literally around the greatest artists of our time in a super secure venue. So you’re protecting them from… who?? Y’all got escorted up there for 30 minutes. Around your PEERS. Ridiculous," another offered.
