WASHINGTON, DC: AI-generated videos depicting President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Tesla CEO Elon Musk as factory workers have surfaced on social media platforms across China.

The videos have gone viral amid the escalating tension between the United States and China as Trump increased tariffs on Chinese imports to 145 percent, after announcing a 90-day suspension of tariffs for several countries.

Notably, the move was in response to China's 84 percent retaliatory tariffs on US goods, which were later increased to 125 percent, as per LaDbible.

The viral AI videos, which have been widely shared by Chinese accounts, show the trio working on production lines making shoes.

Interestingly, the relevance of the AI-generated clip is that 62 percent of the shoes sold in the US are imported from China, per the outlet. The video seemingly tried to mock the White House's efforts to rejuvenate American manufacturing.

Meanwhile, another AI-generated video showed "American" workers in gray uniforms resembling those worn at Foxconn factories, soldering iPhones on an assembly line.

On April 11, China hit back with a countermeasure of its own as it increased tariffs on US goods by 41 percent. A Chinese Finance Ministry spokesman said, "If the US insists on continuing to substantially infringe on China’s interests, China will resolutely counter and fight to the end."

Moreover, a founder of a luxury shoe brand called the tariffs "ridiculous" and stated that they "make no sense," per LaDbible.

Devlin Carter, the founder of the luxury sneaker company SIA Collective, told NBC News, "Small businesses like mine have to pay these tariffs, and it’s not a small thing."

He added, "It’s a lot. So there’s no way to see this as something that’s good for anybody. And it’s all unnecessary."

Similarly, Pepper Harward, chief executive officer of Oka Brands, told Footwear News, "The footwear ecosystem doesn't really exist here. Everybody's interested in US manufacturing but very few people are fully committed to it or have solid justifications for making investments there."
