SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA: Taking a swipe at former President Donald Trump, California Gov Gavin Newsom asserted that he is "more unhinged" than ever as the potential for a rematch between Trump and President Joe Biden looms in November, reported The Hill.

In a recent interview with MSNBC's Alex Wagner, the Democratic Governor claimed, "He can't be beaten in a primary, but in a general election a general election, I think he's the most flawed candidate in my lifetime."

"He is damaged goods," Newsom stated.

Claiming the Republican frontrunner is not as entertaining as before, the Governor added, "He's more unhinged than he ever was, more extreme, obviously more dangerous across the spectrum of issues."

Trump is leading the GOP primary polls with a clear majority. The landmark victories in the Iowa caucus and New Hampshire primary strengthened his possibility of becoming the GOP presidential nominee.

Gavin Newsom slams GOP lawmakers over border deal crisis

Newsom, in another interview with Wagner, criticized the Republican lawmakers for giving into Trump's agenda regarding the escalating crisis at the southern border of the country, as per reports by Mediaite.

Labeling the acts of the Republican Party and Trump as a "disgrace," the California Governor stated, "These guys are so weak. How … it's just so pathetically weak, this Republican Party."

Trump lately has been meddling in the emerging bipartisan border deal, actively lobbying the GOP Senators to kill it to prevent Biden's victory.

On the other hand, he has also ramped up the criticism against his successor on the worsening migrant crisis in the southern border.

During a rally in Las Vegas, Nevada, on January 27, the GOP frontrunner called out the incumbent for putting restraining orders on Texas Gov Greg Abbott's plan to install razor wires to prevent illegal migrant crossings.

Internet reacts to Gavin Newsom's remarks

Social media users ridiculed Newsom for stating Trump's incompetence in the general election by pointing out his failures as California's Governor.

One user asked, "Was he looking into a mirror when he said that???"

Another user mocked Newsome, saying, "Hello Pot, it’s Kettle."

A third user added, "Then he should run, not just talk."

"Gavin is a greasy empty suit that has groomed himself to be another lifelong politician. Just say NO," read a fourth response.

One user remarked, "Meanwhile people are fleeing from California."

Another user added, "Ahhahaa...from Mr I'm Perfect."

Another opined, "Newsome is a joke."
