SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS: Timothée Chalamet took a shot at the Academy Awards as he celebrated the New York Knicks' NBA Championship win.

The ‘Dune’ star was on the court at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas, on Saturday, June 13, as the New York Knicks became NBA champions for the first time since 1973.

Timothee Chalamet jokes he'd rather be at Knicks championship than the Oscars

Soon after the Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs in Game 5 of the NBA Finals with a 94-90 victory, Chalamet began taking photos of the winning players with his phone. At one point, he declared, "Way rather this than the Oscars."

"C'mon, baby! Knicks are champions, baby!" the 30-year-old star, who has been nominated for four Oscars, added in a viral video. He was also seen with the players during the post-game locker room champagne shower.

Timothee Chalamet lost Best Actor Oscar to Michael B Jordan

Chalamet's criticism of the Oscars came months after Michael B. Jordan beat him to the Best Actor award for his role in 'Sinners'.

Though the 'Marty Supreme' actor did not say anything publicly at the time, he had previously spoken openly about his ambitions.

"I know we're in a subjective business, but the truth is, I'm really in pursuit of greatness. I know people don't usually talk like that, but I want to be one of the greats," Chalamet reportedly said during his acceptance speech at the Actors Awards for his role in 'A Complete Unknown’.

Meanwhile, according to a top Hollywood awards expert, the 'Wonka' actor may have missed out on the Oscar because he "fumbled the ball on the five-yard line."

During a February Variety and CNN panel, Chalamet had infamously said, "I don't want to be working in ballet or opera, or you know, things where it's like, 'Hey, keep this thing alive,' even though it's like, no one cares about this anymore."

Another Hollywood insider reportedly added, "His campaign for 'Marty Supreme' started it — the arrogance of his outfits, befitting a clown more than an Oscar winner. The lengths he will go for hype … He reeks of Oscar desperation.”

Michael B Jordan praised for humble Oscars campaign

Regarding Jordan's win, a leading awards strategist explained, "Michael B. Jordan is charming, humble, dresses perfectly, then kills it in every movie."

"He campaigned for the movie, the other cast [members], for Ryan. But he hasn't drawn much attention to himself. He hasn't even done many interviews," they stated.
