LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Dua Lipa is once again calling for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza amid the escalating tension between Israel and Hamas.

Taking to her Instagram Story on Tuesday, May 28, the 'Radical Optimism' star shared a graphic from the Artists4Ceasefire collective with the hashtag "#AllEyesOnRafah" to condemn the Israeli occupation, according to Billboard.

Over the graphic Dua Lipa wrote, "Burning children alive can never be justified. The whole world is mobilizing to stop the Israeli genocide. Please show your solidarity with Gaza."

The ‘New Rules’ singer’s message came amid the escalating tension between the two warring groups as Israel conducted a series of airstrikes on the Gazan city of Rafah, apparently killing around 37 Palestinians, who were living in displacement camps, between Monday and Tuesday, as per The Associated Press

According to Gaza's health ministry, since Hamas struck southern Israeli communities on October 7, 2023, over 34,500 Palestinians have been killed as a result of Israel's offensive.

Internet reacts to Dua Lipa's recent call for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza

Dua Lipa's stand on the war and her call for a ceasefire elicited a flurry of reactions from her fans as well as other netizens.

One said, "Thank you Dua for having morals and using ur platform for good! A lot of artists can’t relate…," and another added, "Dua lipa we never doubted you. 🇵🇸."

A person applauded Dua Lipa and Ariana Grande's call for a ceasefire and said, "Ohh celebrities are on fire today 😍😍." "The higher power be with you. It is a time for healing," noted someone else.

One more fan praised her, writing, "It's really brave of her to speak out on such a serious issue."

An individual expressed, "The more significant line here is she correctly calls what we're seeing a GENOCIDE. i dont think i've seen as big a name use that language up to now," and another person echoed, "The first mainstream artist to call it what it is, A GENOCIDE."

"Dua is calling it a genocide because her country went through the same thing with serbia i am so proud of her for calling this what it is 🩷," pointed out a follower.

Meanwhile, a netizen opined, "Let’s not forget she attends and preformed at a McDonalds private event," referring to her performance at a private McDonald’s event in Barcelona in April. The fast-food giant had drawn the ire of several netizens after it declared in October 2023 that it would be giving free meals to the Israeli army in Gaza.

Someone else criticized the language Dua Lipa used in the post, saying, "I don’t like how she worded it as the “israeli genocide”, makes it sound like israelis are the ones experiencing the genocide."

"Oh, NOW y’all want to stand for Palestine all of a sudden," wrote another person while one more claimed, "Israel has requested a ceasefire, hamas has declined. why don’t you go and ask hamas for a ceasefire."

Dua Lipa previously spoke out about the 'humanitarian crisis' in Gaza in a Rolling Stone interview

This is, however, not the first time that Dua Lipa has spoken out about the Hamas-Israel war. The songstress spoke to Rolling Stone for their February cover issue where she called for a "humanitarian ceasefire."

Speaking about her heritage and her family’s history of displacement from their native place, the 'Barbie' star said, "My existence is kind of political, the fact that I lived in London because my parents left from the war."

Dua Lipa, who was born to Albanian parents in London, added, "I feel for people who have to leave their homes. From my experience of being in Kosovo and understanding what war does, no one really wants to leave their home."

She later explained what she believes is the reason for migration, saying, "They do it for protection, to save their family, to look after the people around them, that kind of thing, for a better life. So I feel close to it."

The 'Houdini' singer further expressed, "My feelings on displaced people [are] very real and raw, and it is a difficult subject to speak about because it’s so divisive."

Turning her attention toward the Hamas attack that started the war, she noted, "I feel so bad for every Israeli life lost and what happened on October 7."

After the war started, she along with several other stars joined hands to sign an open letter to President Joe Biden, requesting to "call for an immediate de-escalation and ceasefire in Gaza and Israel before another life is lost" and also called for the release of hostages.

She continued in the interview, "At the moment, what we have to look at is how many lives have been lost in Gaza, and the innocent civilians, and the lives that are just being lost. There are just not enough world leaders that are taking a stand and speaking up about the humanitarian crisis that’s happening, the humanitarian ceasefire that has to happen."
