‘Yellowstone’ fans rave about Elsa Dutton’s return to narrate season finale, call it a full circle moment
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Yellowstone' fans were over the moon as Elsa Dutton returned to the show to narrate the season finale. The doomed narrator of the 'Yellowstone' prequel series '1883' made a surprise voice return to tie the franchise together.
The season finale, titled 'Life Is a Promise', aired on December 15, 2024, and delivered a dramatic conclusion to the series, with significant character developments, a shocking death, and the resolution of long-standing conflicts within the Dutton family.
Elsa Dutton returns to narrate 'Yellowstone' season finale
Kayce Dutton suggested the 'Yellowstone' sale at the end of last week's episode, and Beth agreed with the idea. In the finale episode, Kayce sold the largest ranch in Montana to Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham), the chairman of the Confederated Tribes of Broken Rock.
Notably, the land returns to the Native American tribe from which the Dutton family took it generations ago. In another twist, Kayce sold it for a low price of $1.25 an acre, the original price his ancestors paid. The total bill for the ranch sums up to $1.1 million. Kayce and his family took a little land section for themselves to live quietly away from any spinoffs, according to USA Today.
Rainwater said, "Your people are buried on that land, and so are mine. It’s sacred, and that’s how we will treat it. So your family forever has a home here."
He made the land a wilderness area where nothing could be built, and no motorized vehicles were allowed and Dutton's ancestors were happy with the decision.
This is when Elsa Dutton, the doomed narrator of 'Yellowstone' prequel series '1883' made a surprise voice return to tie the franchise together. She narrated, "Men cannot truly own wild land. To own land, you must blanket it in concrete, cover it with buildings. You must rape it to sell it. Raw land, wild land, free land can never be owned."
'Yellowstone' comes to an end
A question heading into the finale was will Beth keep her promise and kill her brother Jamie Dutton, and she did exactly that. After burying her father, she drove to her brother's home and attacked him with a tire iron and a bloody fight ensued, according to Daily Mail.
Jamie nearly killed Beth by choking her, but Rip arrived and saved her as she plunged a knife into his heart.
The series also confirmed the theory first outlined in the '1883' finale where the Indian named Spotted Eagle said his people would take the land back after seven generations, which proved to be true in the finale.
Notably, the 'Yellowstone' saga will continue with Season 2 of the prequel series '1923', which will debut on February 23. Last week, Paramount agreed to a new spin-off featuring Rip and Beth, which will seemingly follow their life on this new ranch they bought, per the outlet.
