WASHINGTON, DC: On the third anniversary of the January 6 Capitol insurrection Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy announced his pledge to pardon 'every peaceful protester' involved in the attack on his first day in office, if elected.

Posting a video message on X, the White House hopeful said, "We deserve the truth. We can handle the truth. We don't have the truth right now."

"But based on the facts that we already have, I will tell you that every peaceful protester from January 6 will earn a pardon from me on day one in office on January 20, 2025," Ramaswamy added.

The Indian-origin GOP presidential contender's vow came on the same day when frontrunner Donald Trump urged President Joe Biden to release the January 6 'hostages'.

Vivek Ramaswamy calls January 6 'Government Entrapment Day'

The black mark on US democracy's history when pro-Trump protesters flocked to the Capitol Building on January 6, 2021, attempting to halt the Congress certifying Biden's 2020 election victory continues to be the most discussed issue for the 2024 presidential election.

However, Ramaswamy stated the day should go down in history as 'Government Entrapment Day'.

Stating his reason for the name, he added that language matters as it is under the left's control.

"That's why we actually fall into the traps that we do as a country sometimes."

Reiterating his promise, the biotech entrepreneur stated that he would grant the pardon, "Not some number of years later, not my last day in office and my first day in office. And that's just the beginning."

"Anybody else who was also charged for pled for a crime on January 6 will go case by case to make sure that people didn't have their constitutional rights denied or treated unfairly with two standards of the rule of law. "

The GOP presidential contender added the matter was "one of the key civil rights issues" of the present time and would stand for it without apology.

"If we have a president who actually tells the people the truth again and stands for justice with one standard of the rule of law for all Americans, that's the first step we can take as a country to actually make sure that hopefully our best days can actually still be ahead of us."

The video ended with his vow to do his part.

With the Iowa caucuses scheduled for January 15, the first step in the 2024 presidential election is just over a week away. According to FiveThirtyEight's opinion polls analysis, Ramaswamy currently holds the fourth position among GOP contenders, with Trump as the frontrunner.

Internet says Vivek Ramasamy will not be the President

Another user remarked, "The only thing you're going to do is drop out and disappear."

"Fortunately, you will never be president. You’re even right about so many things. This ain’t one of them," a third user noted.

One user added, "Despair is all I can see in your eyes. We are all nothing and don't get to rewrite history the way we want!"

A seventh user stated, "You’re pandering to domestic terrorists."
