Zelensky’s chief of staff Andriy Yermak resigns after anti-corruption agencies raid his home

KYIV, UKRAINE: Volodymyr Zelensky’s top aide, Andriy Yermak’s house, was raided on Friday, November 28.
Soon after the probe by Ukraine’s National Anticorruption Bureau (NABU) and Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO), Yermak submitted his resignation as the Chief of Staff.
Zelensky wants to 'avoid rumors and speculation' amid Andriy Yermak's resignation
On Friday, Volodymyr Zelensky made a public announcement regarding Andriy Yermak's resignation. Addressing the nation, he said that there was about to be a “reshuffle” in the “Office of the President of Ukraine,” and that the head of his office, Yermak, had submitted his resignation.
The Ukrainian president added that he was “grateful” to Yermak for representing Ukraine’s position in negotiations “exactly as it should be.” “But I want to avoid rumors and speculations,” he added.
Zelensky further said that on Saturday, he would hold a meeting with those who could replace Yermak. He also said that Russia wanted Ukraine to make mistakes, but that he would ensure no such thing happens. He also urged his countrymen and women to stay united, as losing unity could mean losing the country and its future.
Before his resignation, Yermak had taken to his Telegram channel to inform the public of the raid. At the time, he said that he was cooperating with the NABU and SAPO and that they would not face any obstacles.
US-Ukraine negotiations to continue as usual
Volodymyr Zelensky also addressed the ongoing negotiations with the Donald Trump administration and said that the conversations with continue.
Yermak was set to be replaced with several people, such as the Chief of the General Staff, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council, and Ukraine’s intelligence services.
In the video, he added that in the face of “such an external challenge,” the country must stay strong internally. Zelensky further said that 100% of their strength would be focused on “defending Ukraine.” He urged the citizens to act in Ukraine’s best interests and defend their homeland.
“This is an unchanging principle. Meetings with the American side will take place in the near future,” he added.
