Jewelry expert Ann Grimmett, VP of Merchandising at Jared Jeweler, shared her take on the ring in an interview with Marie Claire, describing it as a "5-carat old mine cut, set East-West in gray or black gold on a yellow gold shank.." She added that, "Simple, yet stunning, this ring would likely retail around $120,000."
The appeal of the East-West cut lies in its combination of historic design with modern execution, according to jewelry consultant Liera Wraae Stewart, founder of the fine jewelry line Aetla.
Speaking to Elle, she explained, "The east-west orientation highlights the diamond’s natural symmetry and unique shape. The Georgian-inspired button-back setting adds a rich historical layer, harkening back to the late 18th and early 19th centuries when diamonds were hand-cut to maximise their sparkle in candlelight." Stewart also noted that the delicate gold band complements the diamond, providing a balance of softness and strength.
Jewelry expert Gottlieb also weighed in, stating that the ring likely features an antique cushion-cut diamond, probably between five and six carats, set east-west with vintage-style prongs in white gold on a yellow gold band, as per Daily Mail.
