WASHINGTON, DC: Political commentator Ann Coulter had some advice for former president Donald Trump days after she drew flak for mocking the emotional behavior of Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz's neurodivergent son.

The real estate mogul received some sensible advice from the 'In Trump We Trust' author about his latest complaint regarding the debate against Vice President Kamala Harris to be helped on September 10 and hosted by ABC News.

"ATTN DONALD TRUMP: The Harris campaign is demanding a rule change of NOT muting mics at the debates. Why? They're betting you won't STFU and will lose the debate - as you did with Biden. 1. DON'T AGREE TO THE RULE CHANGE. 2. Learn to STFU," Coulter wrote in an X (formerly Twitter) post on Monday, August 26.

Ann Coulter's advice to Donald Trump on debating Kamala Harris

Ann Coulter claimed that Donald Trump lost the previous presidential debate to President Joe Biden due to leaving the microphone on during the upcoming debate, reported The Daily Beast.

Harris' campaign proposed a new demand that both candidates' microphones should stay unmuted throughout the event, unlike the June 27 debate on CNN, where it remained muted when the opponent was speaking.

Democratic campaign spokesperson Brian Fallon said, "Trump's handlers prefer the muted microphone because they don't think their candidate can act presidential for 90 minutes on his own," according to CBS News.

The latest squabble emerged after the MAGA spearhead last week raised questions about the ABC News debate, suggesting Harris might get questions beforehand. He also implied bias on the platform due to the "Panel of Trump Haters".

Responding to Harris's campaign on the microphone issue, Trump sided with the suggestion, saying he would "rather have it probably on." He added that his Democratic opponent was neither a "good debater" nor a "smart person," a statement Coulter later repeated in another X post.

Last week, Coulter found herself in hot water for calling Gus Walz, the son of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, "weird" after his emotional response to the VP nominee's DNC speech.

She deleted the tweet later, clarifying she was not aware Gus was "autistic." The 17-year-old has ADHD and a non-verbal learning disorder.

Internet divided over Ann Coulter's debate advice to Donald Trump

Netizens held differing opinions on Ann Coulter's dig at Donald Trump on the debate microphone fuss. While some supported her stance, others suggested leaving the ex-president to be himself.

"As usual, you underestimate Trump. You don't understand what you're dealing with. Trump is very clever and knows how to deal with the marxists..." one social media user said.

"That's like begging a Great White Shark to go on a diet," another remarked.

"Indeed. He would still be president today if someone had taken away his Twitter account in 2017," added one person.

"The irony of her statement is definitely lost on her. Definitely not the smartest (or kindest) person," said another.

"He can’t. He’s feeble and nuts and he’s afraid of her," someone else chimed in.

"I agree with no live audiences though. Whoever gets the loudest cheers shouldn't win a debate," one individual said.

"Let him be Donald Trump. Period," another added.

"Yeah no one really listens to this woman anymore," read one remark.
