WASHINGTON, DC: Democratic presidential candidate Rep Dean Phillips claimed that GOP contender Donald Trump might beat President Joe Biden in the 2024 election, as per The Hill.

The Minnesota Congressman, in an interview with NewsNation's Dan Abrams, said, "This is what you do in a democracy, you practice by actually having competitions, so it's going to take some time for that delusion to pass but I've seen not one shred of evidence, not one shred, that Joe Biden is in position to beat Donald Trump, not one."

Phillips announced his run for the presidency, challenging incumbent Biden in October.

Dean Phillips thinks Joe Biden should 'exit' from the 2024 presidential run

Phillips criticized Biden for not passing the torch to another eligible Democrat and argued that he should "thoughtfully exit" the 2024 race, acknowledging the fact that he is running against "the most dangerous man in the world."

"If I were President Biden, and I cared about democracy — and I believe he does — he should do one of two things, either thoughtfully exit the stage or invite other candidates to do it," added the Minnesota Rep.

He also pointed out that people are "not really accustomed to a competition, particularly when you have an incumbent president, but this is an unusual time."

Phillips previously also opined against Biden's second presidential bid, saying that he might be "unelectable" because of the impeachment inquiry the House of Representatives has authorized.

Internet reacts to Dean Phillips' remarks on possibility of Donald Trump's victory over Joe Biden

Netizens raged as Phillips predicted the ex-president's victory over Biden, especially as the Colorado Supreme Court deemed Trump ineligible for the presidency and excluded him from the state's primary ballot

One remarked, "Another wannabe," while another noted, "Not one shred of evidence that Dean Philips could get a delegate in any primary."

"And you can? C'mon man," mocked a person, and someone else added, "Other than polls and, you know, the fact that he ALREADY DID IT ONCE!"

An individual quipped, "Dean is still having that fever dream."

"I’m today years old hearing about this guy, and he thinks HE is the one to do more than Biden!?! What a laughing stock," expressed one user.

A disgruntled person wrote, "Ridiculous. There was not one shred of evidence Biden could overtake Trump in 2020 either. And in the end, democrats managed to print enough ballots."
