Barry Manilow cancels Las Vegas shows after bronchitis strikes days after stage return
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Barry Manilow has canceled his Las Vegas performances after reportedly leaving his previous show early, with his representatives confirming that bronchitis forced him to call off his Friday, October 9, and Saturday, October 10, appearances.
The 83-year-old singer returned to the stage on October 8 after taking a break from touring following his summer performances. The latest cancellations come after his stage 1 lung cancer diagnosis and subsequent surgery.
Barry Manilow cancels Las Vegas shows after bronchitis relapse
Manilow canceled his Las Vegas show at the International Theater at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, which was scheduled for Saturday, October 10. His representative confirmed the cancellations to Variety and the Daily Mail.
A day earlier, on Friday, October 9, the 'Copacabana' singer reportedly performed two songs before walking off the stage, according to Variety, which cited Vital Vegas. The outlet reported that his band continued playing after he left until an announcement was made that the show had ended.
“After a triumphant welcome-back concert on Thursday, Barry got hit with bronchitis and had to cancel his Friday and Saturday shows,” representatives for the musician and the resort told Variety.
Following Friday's show, attendees also shared on social media that they had received emails from Ticketmaster notifying them that they would receive refunds, according to the publication.
Manilow's October 8 concert marked his return to the stage following his August 22 performance at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino.
Before his break, the singer had announced on social media that he would take some time off after completing his summer tour.
“We just finished a fantastic summer tour,” the 'I Write Songs' musician said. “29 shows in 68 days. The shows were fantastic. The audiences were fantastic. And I sounded fantastic. But it seems that we were pushing a little too hard.”
“Now we all need to sit down and shut up,” Manilow continued. “So, we're going to take a break until we return to the Westgate Las Vegas on October 8th. When I'll be singing like a bird. I hope to see you then.”
Barry Manilow details stage 1 lung cancer diagnosis and treatment
In December 2025, Manilow announced that he had been diagnosed with stage 1 lung cancer the previous month. He underwent a lobectomy, a surgical procedure to remove an entire lobe of a lung, allowing the remaining healthy tissue to expand and function.
“As many of you know I recently went through six weeks of bronchitis followed by a relapse of another five weeks,” he said at the time.
“Even though I was over the bronchitis and back on stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI to make sure that everything was OK.”
“The MRI discovered a cancerous spot on my left lung that needs to be removed. It's pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found so early. That's the good news,” he added.
In March, Manilow discussed his cancer diagnosis, treatment journey and changing relationship with music in his PEOPLE cover story.
The singer, who released his 33rd studio album, 'What a Time,' on June 5, also reflected on how the diagnosis had changed his perspective on life.
“You just don't even think about [how fragile life is],” Manilow said of his stage 1 lung cancer diagnosis. “And suddenly, you have lung cancer. But I'm still here. I'm not all here; there's part of me that isn't here — they took out a part of me, and now I've got to figure out, ‘What do I do?’ ”
