Bruce Springsteen’s daughter Jessica announces first pregnancy with boyfriend Nicola Philippaerts
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Bruce Springsteen is set to become a grandfather again as his daughter, Jessica Springsteen, prepares to welcome her first child with boyfriend Nicola Philippaerts.
The 34-year-old equestrian announced the news in a joint Instagram post on Saturday, October 20, sharing a picture of herself cradling her growing baby bump. “New adventures,” the couple wrote alongside the image.
Bruce Springsteen's daughter Jessica Springsteen shares pregnancy news
Jessica is the only daughter of Bruce Springsteen, 77, and his wife, Patti Scialfa. The couple also share two sons, Evan, 36, and Samuel, 32. Samuel became a father for the first time in 2022 when he welcomed daughter Lily with his fiancée, Grace.
Bruce previously spoke about watching his youngest son navigate fatherhood and expressed pride in the bond Samuel shares with his daughter. During a June 2025 appearance on Michelle Obama's 'IMO' podcast, the singer reflected on how his son had approached raising Lily.
“I watch my youngest son with his daughter, [and] he’s a better dad than I was — already,” the 'Born to Run' singer confessed. He continued to praise Samuel's approach to fatherhood, saying, “That gives me great pride. I go, ‘Well, he’s really doing it right, you know.’”
Jessica has also spoken about the support she received from her parents throughout her equestrian career. During a 2021 appearance on the Today show, she discussed their reaction to learning that she had made the Olympic team.
“Oh my gosh, they were so excited,” Jessica said of her parents' response. She explained that their support had been a constant throughout her journey in the sport.
“They’ve supported me since I was little, and this has been, you know, a huge dream of mine ever since I can remember,” she said. Jessica added that equestrian sports had become a passion for her parents, too, describing the experience as a journey they had shared together. “They were so proud of me and so happy,” she recalled.
Bruce Springsteen reflects on raising his children away from fame
Bruce Springsteen has previously discussed how he and Patti Scialfa tried to keep their children from being overly exposed to his public persona while they were growing up. In a 2024 interview with The Times of London, the singer recalled how his children would react when they heard his music on the radio.
“When they were little, if they heard me on the radio they would go, ‘Bruce Springsteen!’ It was their way of separating their dad from this abstract character who also seemed to be a part of their lives,” Bruce said.
He explained that he and Scialfa often made a conscious effort to keep their family life separate from his career.
“A lot of times, we just didn’t expose them to it,” he added. Bruce also recalled that his children occasionally attended his concerts but were not particularly familiar with the wider world surrounding his music.
“They came to concerts a few times before going back to their rooms to play video games, and didn’t know much about it beyond what they may have read,” he told the publication.
As Jessica prepares to welcome her first child with Philippaerts, the family is set to experience another milestone, following Samuel's transition to fatherhood in 2022.
