‘I’m being sappy’: Ben Affleck’s pal Jason Mewes says he would be stunned if actor splits with JLo
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ben Affleck’s friend Jason Mewes has claimed he would be “shocked” if his pal and Jennifer Lopez end up splitting.
As the ‘Maid in Manhattan’ star continues to make solo red-carpet appearances, Affleck’s friend and ‘Dogma’ co-star was asked to comment on the growing speculation of rifts in Bennifer marriage.
Ben Affleck's friend lends support to couple
When asked about his thoughts on the ‘Good Will Hunting Star’ and the Bronx diva’s growing divorce speculation, Mewes, 49, flatly said, "I would be shocked.”
The comedian went on to recall a few heartwarming moments from the ‘Gigli’ couple’s 2022 wedding, saying their chemistry was “very sincere and real," per OK! Magazine.
He continued, "I'm being sappy. When you were there watching their interactions, the singing — she sang to him — it just seemed after 20 years and them and everything that’s going on, [their relationship seems] very sincere and real."
Meanwhile, the ‘Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back’ star added he has not had the opportunity to reconnect with Affleck lately, so he does not know the latest development in the couple's relationship.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez having ‘issues’ in their marriage
Of late, several sources have been coming out commenting on the state of the couple’s marriage.
After their initial romance in the early 2000s, the couple split in 2004. Two decades later, they rekindled their relationship and tied the knot in 2022.
However, if sources are to be believed, there’s trouble brewing in paradise as a source close to the couple recently shared with InTouch, that Affleck has “decided to call it quits” on his marriage.
The insider shared, "It's over; they're headed for a divorce and for once [Ben's] not to blame.”
The mole revealed, "They'll never stop loving each other, but she can't control him, and he can't change her,” before adding, "There's no way it could have lasted.”
Another source shared with Us Weekly later, "They started having issues a few months ago as Jen had started ramping up work commitments and prepping for her tour," adding, "Jen is very focused on work."
"They are on two completely different pages most of the time,” explained the source.
The insider, however, added that the couple have no plans on quitting on their marriage. They have rather decided to work on saving their relationship.
Of late, Affleck has been living in a rental home at Brentwood, away from his and the ‘Marry Me’ star’s $60 million marital home in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles.
Another source claimed per OK! Magazine, their "relationship is not over yet, but they have been staying in separate homes and the tension has been high. They are taking a second to figure out what each of them is going through and wants. Both of them have been very down."
The pair have been spotted together a few times ever since they made a joint appearance last week at the school performance of one of Affleck's children. They, however, did not "hug or kiss."
The actress has been attending promotional events for her upcoming film ‘Atlas’ alone without Affleck by her side.
On Wednesday, May 22, the ‘This Is Me…Now’ songstress snapped at a reporter during a promotional event in Mexico City, per BuzzFeed.News.
The reporter asked during a press conference, “Is your divorce with Ben Affleck real? These rumors?”
Her ‘Atlas’ co-star Simu Liu intervened on her behalf, saying, “OK, we're not doing that,” before adding, “C'mon, don't come in with that energy, please.”
Lopez also replied back at the reporter, "You know better than that."
