Bette Midler deletes X account after joking she would drink Drano if Donald Trump won election
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Bette Midler seemed to delete or deactivate her X (formerly Twitter) account after voicing her deep frustration over the election outcome, which saw Donald Trump reclaim the White House.
The 'Hocus Pocus' actress had been highly active on the platform during Election Day, monitoring vote counts and urging voters to remain patient in line, according to Google results of her profile’s activity.
Bette Midler's bold support for Kamala Harris
Bette Midler backed Kamala Harris shortly after the vice president entered the 2024 race, making her stance on Donald Trump unmistakably clear.
In an Instagram post last month, Midler had shared a Harris endorsement from her 'Hocus Pocus' co-star, Sarah Jessica Parker, emphasizing her reasons for supporting the Democratic nominee.

However, as election results appeared to lean in Trump's favor, the actress expressed her growing frustration with a meme depicting a crude red-and-blue crayon outline of the US map, a subtle commentary on the election outcome’s direction.

When Trump’s victory became certain, Midler shared a powerful quote from HL Mencken: "As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."
Bette Midler joked about drinking Drano if Donald Trump won election
Shortly after sharing this post, Bette Midler’s account went dark.
Her move, according to Daily Beast, left netizens unsure whether she chose to deactivate it herself or if the platform, now under Elon Musk’s ownership, took action.
Screenshots of a previous X post soon began circulating, where Midler had shared she would drink champagne if Harris won or drink Drano, a toxic drain cleaner, if Trump won back the White House.
Midler's post received over 57,000 likes and nearly 7,000 retweets.

The actress, a staunch Democrat, has been a vocal critic of Trump since 2012, when she called him out over a now-deleted X post, as per Intelligencer.
In one instance, she posted a meme with a fabricated quote attributed to the former president, calling Republicans the "dumbest group of voters in the country."
Though she deleted the post, it had already caught Trump’s attention, prompting him to retaliate by calling her a "washed-up psycho."
Washed up psycho @BetteMidler was forced to apologize for a statement she attributed to me that turned out to be totally fabricated by her in order to make “your great president” look really bad. She got caught, just like the Fake News Media gets caught. A sick scammer!
