ATLANTA, GEORGIA: President Joe Biden argued his predecessor, Donald Trump, was running for the White House for "revenge" and called for voters in Atlanta to stand against the 45th President in the November election, reported The Hill.

Addressing a campaign reception at Mary Mac's Tea Room in Atlanta, Georgia, on Saturday, May 18, Biden remarked that the GOP presumptive nominee's 2024 presidential bid wasn't geared towards leading the nation.

"Folks, Trump isn't running to lead America. He's running for revenge," the POTUS said, as per pool notes. "And look, revenge is no way to lead a country."

The former president frequently hinted at seeking revenge on his opponents if he were to win the election. He had discussed the prospect of investigating Biden and his family should he return to the Oval Office in 2024.

In June 2023, he indicated the possibility of appointing a special prosecutor to go after the first family and "all others involved with the destruction of our elections, borders, & country itself," as per The Hill.

Biden lauds Georgia for his 2020 election win

The 81-year-old met with his supporters at The Peach State's capital on Saturday during his trip to deliver commencement addresses at Morehouse College on May 19.

Biden warned his supporters that Trump was "unhinged" and labeled him a threat to "democracy.

The president also took a moment to praise the Georgia electorate, crediting them as the "reason" for his 2020 election victory. The incumbent, who narrowly flipped the state blue in 2020, expressed confidence in securing the battleground state once more in November.

"Tell people that if you doubt the power of the vote, come visit Georgia," the octogenarian said, as per the pool.  "What you've all done is incredible. You're the reason — not a joke — Georgia is the reason I'm president of the United States."

However, according to recent polls, Biden is trailing behind Trump in The Peach State. The New York Times's recent survey indicated the president was 10 points behind his Republican opponent in the swing state, which could be decisive in the final outcome.

Nonetheless, Biden expressed confidence in his position despite the polls. "There's a lot to do. We know we're far from over. But we know the race is close. Polls vary from moving up to down to tied, but it's hard to make any poll rational these days," he emphasized.

The incumbent also reiterated the significance of the November election, reminding voters that "freedoms" are at stake and emphasizing that Trump cannot be allowed a second term.

"Our children's future is at stake. Not a joke. If you'll allow me to make the case… We have to win this race, not for me but for America," Biden asserted.

His successor's narrow victory in Georgia in the previous presidential election led Trump to allegedly attempt to overturn the results, for which he now faces indictment.
