Bill Maher questioned longevity of Taylor Swift with Travis Kelce

Maher expressed his skepticism about the longevity of Taylor Swift and Travis's relationship.

He pointed out that at 35, Swift might be too old to be so publicly supportive of her boyfriend, a football player, by wearing his jersey and attending his games.

“I’m sure she’s a lovely person, but the whole thing with the football player,” Maher said about Swift, 34, who has been dating Kelce, 34, for almost a year.

“I just felt like 35 was a little old to be like, ‘My boyfriend’s a football player and I wear his jersey to the game with his number on it!’ Right? I mean, come on,” he added.

Maher referred to Swift supporting Kelce at Kansas City Chiefs games during the latest NFL season.

Bill Maher compares Taylor Swift with Gatorade at the Super Bowl that gets dumped

Welch, 21, defended Swift, saying she should do “whatever makes her happy.”

“He’s gonna dump her, though. You know that,” Maher bluntly replied.

“With her, it’s like the Gatorade at the Super Bowl, you know you’re gonna get dumped,” he said, adding “You just don’t know when.”

Welch noted that if Swift and Kelce break up, she will likely release another hit album about their relationship.

“It won’t be ‘f***k John Mayer’ no more, it will be ‘f***k Travis,” Welch added, referring to Swift’s relationship with John Mayer which inspired her iconic 2010 breakup song 'Dear John,' The New York Post reported.

Bill Maher calls Taylor Swift 'tacky' for writing songs about her personal life

Welch explained that Swift has been performing her older music on her Eras Tour.

“That was a long time ago,” said Maher, before asking, “Is she still singing about that?”

Maher criticized Swift for writing and singing about her personal life, calling it "very tacky" after Welch clarified that Swift had been touring with her "old music."

“You can’t control what the muse dictates to you. She’s a songwriter. I can’t fault her for that,” he said.

"But It does seem like such a recurrent theme. At some point, you just wanna say, maybe you should write a song called ‘Maybe It’s Me,’" he added.

In addition, Maher declared himself to be a "admirer" of Swift, drawing comparisons between her achievements and those of 'The Beatles', 'Frank Sinatra', and 'Elvis Presley.'

"The scrutiny she gets, how much she has a magnifying glass on her, every single day, paparazzi outside her house, outside every restaurant she goes to, after every flight she gets off, and she’s just living, enjoying life. When she acts like that I better not be the one acting all strange,” he added.

Internet reacts to Bill Maher's prediction about Tayor Swift and Travis Kelce's relationship

The internet had mixed reactions to Bill Maher's prediction about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. Some users joked about the potential breakup songs Swift would write, while others had differing opinions on whether Kelce would actually end the relationship.

"Just think of the breakup songs Taylor will write and cash in on," wrote one on X. Another said, "That's a bold prediction. Lol."

One user added, "Uh no, sorry. Princess Kelce enjoys the limelight a bit too much to do the dumping. He’ll be near suicidal once he’s not in the news every day after she kicks him to the curb."

"@billmaher is absolutely right. Travis has never been faithful to anyone he's dated," wrote another.

Another user commented, "They'd be hilarious if it happened in reverse. She probably wouldn't be able to make music for months."

One person wrote, "Hope it’s before the new season. Can't take another game with the cameras on her. Who cares." Another simply stated, "I can see that happening."

In May, an insider told
Us Weekly that Kelce “has no plans” to propose to his girlfriend anytime soon.

“It’s not even on his radar,” the source said, adding “Marriage is something he takes very seriously and not something he would ever just jump into without giving it some careful consideration.”
