The 36-year-old actress wowed the red carpet in New York City on August 6, channeling pop royalty by donning a vintage Versace gown famously worn by Britney Spears in 2002. With this chic nod to the music superstar, Lively has effortlessly bridged the worlds of film and pop culture.

Lively also expressed her joy at wearing the very dress Spears wore in 2002, "It is Britney's actual dress. It should be in the Smithsonian or the Met. But it's on me. I feel so lucky!”

Blake Lively, who reflected her character Lily Bloom and her floral shop in the film, dazzled in a Versace dress adorned with embellished flowers at the waist. The multicolored, sequined dress featured a one-shoulder halter neckline and unique cutouts across the bodice. 

She paired it with Lorraine Schwartz rings and dangle earrings that echoed the gown's vibrant pink and pastel blue hues, while keeping her footwear understated with iridescent strappy heels. 

Her makeup was equally complementary, with soft pink eyeshadow and matte lipstick, and her long blonde hair was styled in loose waves cascading down her back. 

Lively also took to Instagram Stories to share a heartfelt tribute to Britney Spears, posting a throwback photo of the pop icon in the same Versace ensemble from 2002.

She captioned it with a message, "Todays mood. The ultimate queen who made us all want to sparkle and write and share our stories. Britney, us millennials all have a story of a moment, or of years that you made us want to shine and inspire awe, with strength, and joy and immensely hard work. Thank you for your example and your contribution to women telling their stories."

Interestingly, the picture was accompanied by the background music of Britney Spears' single 'Everytime' from her fourth studio album released in 2003.

Blake Lively discusses embracing floral fashion during film promotion

Since launching the promotional campaign for 'It Ends with Us,' based on Colleen Hoover's novel, back in June, Blake Lively has embraced floral fashion in every possible way.

In an interview with PEOPLE, while promoting her Blake Brown haircare line, Lively expressed her enthusiasm for method dressing during a project’s promotion, as it helps her deeply connect with her character. 

“I'm so excited method dressing is such a thing now,” Lively said, reflecting on her 2018 promo tour for 'A Simple Favor.' At that time, her choice to wear suits, aligning with her character, drew some skepticism.

"Why are you dressing like your character? Why are you in suits? And I was like, because we have no marketing money to promote this movie. It's a small movie and the only thing people really pay attention to at these junket interviews is the photos of fashion,” she explained.

“So if I just wear men's suits, people are going to go, 'Why is she just wearing suits?' And then they're going to go, 'Oh, because she's in a movie and she's wearing men's suits.' It's a marketing hack to try to get people to pay attention to our movie. And it worked.”

As the release date for 'It Ends with Us' approaches on August 9, Lively is expected to continue her floral fashion parade. She has showcased a wide array of floral looks, from minidresses and flower-print jeans to floral shorts and embroidered chaps. With her penchant for floral themes, she likely has even more flower-inspired outfits in store before the film hits theaters.
