Charlie Kirk’s longtime criticisms of James Comey resurface after ex-FBI chief’s indictment

PHOENIX, ARIZONA: Years before his death, Charlie Kirk had used his social media to attack former FBI Director James Comey, accusing him of misconduct in the investigations related to Donald Trump.
Kirk had been calling for Comey’s impeachment, claiming that he tried to stage a coup against Trump.
Charlie Kirk's attacks on James Comey

In 2020, Kirk compared Comey to actor Jussie Smollett, accusing the two of making up false stories and escaping charges.
Around the same time, he highlighted the Justice Department probe into the leaks from the Russia case, saying that the probe was focused on Comey and asking how many times he could lie and leak before being punished.
In February, the same year, Kirk said Comey and other ex-officials proved that there were two tiers of justice in America, and in May, he asked his followers to retweet if they thought that Comey needed to be prosecuted over the Michael Flynn case, which got 27,000 retweets.
In May, Kirk criticized Comey for posting a beach photo on Instagram, showing the number “8647”, which Kirk labelled as cringe and a trick to sell books.
Comey first turned off the comments and later deleted the post after people took it as a call to violence against Trump. Comey later said on a show that the number came from a walk with his wife, who connected it to her time working as a restaurant server.
Resurfaced allegations and James Comey's indictment
After Comey was charged with making false statements and obstruction of justice, Kirk’s criticisms have resurfaced.
NBC News reported the charges came from Comey’s Senate testimony on September 30, 2020, where he claimed that he never approved leaks about the FBI probe into Trump or Hillary Clinton.
But a Justice Department report contradicted that claim when his deputy, Andrew McCabe, revealed that Comey had told him to leak the details to the press.
Following the indictment, Comey released a video saying that he is innocent, unafraid, and ready for the trial, while urging people to vote.
Senior White House adviser Peter Navarro told Breitbart News that Comey was “the mastermind or the useful idiot” behind the Russia Collusion Hoax, linking the case to a wider effort against conservatives and Trump allies.
Trump's accusation and Charlie Kirk's final months
Trump accused Comey of being a liar, calling him a “Dirty Cop” on his social media platform, Truth Social, and hoped others who misused the Justice Department would be held responsible.
Navarro linked Kirk’s death to political violence, calling for accountability, and linked Comey to the Steele Dossier and Russia investigation.
In his final months, Kirk warned about an assassination culture in American politics and criticized the media for racial bias in the coverage of the Charlotte light rail killing of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska.
