According to People, Swifties believe that "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived" was inspired by her relationship with singer Matty Healy. The lyrics expressed the music icon's feelings of betrayal, detailing how her former lover created a false impression of love, ultimately ruining her summer.

The lyrics included: “It wasn’t sexy once it wasn’t forbidden / I would’ve died for your sins / Instead I just died inside,” she sings. “And you deserve prison but you won’t get time / You’ll slide into inboxes and slip through the bars / You crashed my party and your rental car / You said normal girls were ‘boring’ / But you were gone by the morning.”

Dave Portnoy's mocking tweet surfaced following Bryan's announcement about his breakup with LaPaglia.

In his Instagram Stories, Bryan stated, "Addressing something: Brianna and me have broken up with [each other] and I respect and love her with every ounce of my heart. She has loved me unconditionally for a very long time and for that I'll always thank her."

After starting their relationship in July 2023, Bryan explained, "I thought it would be beneficial for both of us to go our different ways."
