NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Democrats touted Taylor Swift's endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris, launching new billboards inspired by the pop icon.

On Friday, September 13, the Democratic National Committee unveiled new digital billboards in New York and Las Vegas, capitalizing on Swift's highly anticipated endorsement after this week's debate against former president Donald Trump.

"We’re In Our Kamala Era!" read one billboard alluding to the 'Love Story' singer's record-breaking Eras Tour.

Meanwhile, a second billboard, "A New Way Forward… Ready For It?" was a nod to her song from the 2017 'Reputation' album.

The ads in New York City would be kept 22 storeys above Times Square's red steps and would feature two images in rotation, according to People. The pictures on the NYC billboard are apparently a reference to the songs '22' and 'Red' from Taylor Swift's 2022 album 'Red'.

Besides the "We're in our Kamala era" billboard in Las Vegas, another ad contains an image of Trump with the writing "Exhausted with this guy?"

"As we drive the contrast between Vice President Harris’ New Way Forward and Donald Trump’s Project 2025 agenda, which would rip away reproductive rights and rig the economy against working families, we're reminding voters that it is critical to speak now to dump Trump and enter our Kamala era by visiting IWillVote.com and doing their research on how, where, and when to vote in this election," said Rosemary Boeglin, DNC communications director in a statement.

The Harris campaign's focus to capitalize on Swift's popularity stemmed from the pop star's endorsement on September 10. In an Instagram post, Swift made clear her voting plans for November, declaring she would vote for the Democratic presidential nominee.

The Grammy Awards winner noted that a fake AI image that falsely indicated her support for Trump led her to make her November plans transparent.

Swift signed off her message as "Childless Cat Lady", a swipe at the Republican running mate JD Vance, who in 2021 made disparaging comments about childless Democratic female leaders.

Internet outraged as DNC unveils Taylor Swift-themed ads for Kamala Harris campaign

Billboards touting Taylor Swift's endorsement of Kamala Harris sparked backlash on social media as netizens claimed no one should vote based on a celebrity's political position or opinion.

"The vanity and narcissism of celebrity. If your vote is based on what a famous person tells you, then you should not get a vote," a user wrote.

"No one should take voting advice from a celebrity," another remarked.

"Who cares. She’s a billionaire that doesn’t have to worry about the price of anything. I wonder how many times her private jet has circled the globe this year?" added a third user.

"Time & money waste," read a fourth response.

"Swift branding overshadows real issues," someone else opined.

"Democrats are trying using Taylor so as they can influence and manipulate people through artist," another user added.

"This is giving Beyonce/Hilary in 2016. No personality, so let me latch onto a celebrity so their fans will vote for me," an individual said.

"This goes for anyone, idc who. i think it’s very insane and dangerous to be using celebrities like this to win votes for a country. again, for ANY ELECTION for ANYONE, do not vote just bc your fave endorses. do research. and no. i’m not supporting trump by saying this," read one remark.
