Project 2025 labeled 'total BS' for teasing roles in second Trump administration after ex-prez denies links to group

WASHINGTON, DC: A right-wing think tank is proceeding with its strategy to guide supporters of a contentious policy blueprint, which has recently been disowned by former President Donald Trump and criticized by President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign, toward a potential second Trump administration, as per an email reviewed by the New York Post.

In the message from the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 to a potential recruit, they express gratitude "for your interest in serving in the next Administration" and inform them that "[w]e are planning on holding more events this summer so that we can meet with and train more top applicants for government service."

A previous Project 2025 event, the email mentioned, was attended by 130 "top candidates" and included "two full days of panels, breakout sessions and networking opportunities with government experts."

"The attendees," the letter further states, “are now prepared with invaluable knowledge to lead in the next conservative administration.”

What does the Project 2025 email state further?

A coalition of numerous conservative groups organized by the Heritage Foundation, Project 2025 says it aims to “get into the business of restoring this country through the combination of the right policies and well-trained people.”

The project has developed a "180-day playbook" for the first six months of a new presidential administration, as well as a book titled ‘Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise'.

Recommendations in the book, which includes input from former Trump administration officials Ken Cuccinelli, Rick Dearborn, and Christopher Miller, involve emphasizing "the family as the centerpiece of American life," banning pornography, tightening border security, discontinuing economic relations with China, terminating “nonperforming” federal employees, and utilizing the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to collect data on abortions.

Last week, former President Donald Trump openly criticized Project 2025 in response to Heritage Foundation president Kevin Roberts' statement on former White House strategist Steve Bannon's ‘War Room’ podcast, where he said “We are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless — if the left allows it to be.”

“I know nothing about Project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “I disagree with some of the things they’re saying and some of the things they’re saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal. Anything they do, I wish them luck, but I have nothing to do with them.”

Project 2025 has clarified that it does “not speak for any candidate or campaign” and that the next Republican president will “decide which recommendations to implement.”

Trump campaign spokesperson Danielle Alvarez emphasized that the campaign has “been abundantly clear” about any connections to Project 2025.

“The president has addressed this, the campaign has addressed this,” Alvarez asserted.

On Monday, July 8, the 2024 Republican campaign platform was released which diverges from many of Project 2025's policy proposals, especially when it comes to the abortion issue.

Project 2025 advocates for the next Republican president to “enact the most robust protections for the unborn that Congress will support.”

However, both the 78-year-old MAGA strongman and the Republican platform affirm that regulation of abortion will be left to the individual states.

"We will oppose Late Term Abortion, while supporting mothers and policies that advance Prenatal Care, access to Birth Control, and IVF (fertility treatments)," the platform states.

Next week, the Heritage Foundation will host a panel at the upcoming Republican National Convention in Milwaukee to discuss their policies.

A Project 2025 spokesperson told the aforementioned outlet “We’re confident Project 2025 has assembled the strongest conservative team to work in a future administration. It is up to the future president if he’d like to use it.”
