NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Ex-CNN anchor Don Lemon's once bright career crashed down in flames in April of 2023 amid explosive accusations of misogynistic conduct towards female colleagues spanning over 15 years at the network.

Now, despite carrying heavy reputational baggage, Lemon is attempting a comeback by launching a new streaming talk show on X called 'The Don Lemon Show.' However, the announcement of the show has been greeted with withering criticism and widespread indifference on social media.

Former CNN host Don Lemon looks to restart career with new show on X

Former CNN host Don Lemon announced this week that he is launching a new 30-minute show on X, the social media platform owned by Elon Musk. The show, titled 'The Don Lemon Show,' will stream exclusively on X three times per week, as per POLITICO.

Lemon framed the show as a comeback after his high-profile departure from CNN last year following a series of controversial on-air remarks and a Variety report alleging a history of misogynistic behavior toward colleagues. Denying these claims vehemently, Lemon's spokesperson dismissed the allegations as outdated, unverified rumors.

In a post on X announcing the new show, Lemon said "I've heard you...and today I am back bigger, bolder, freer!" He promised that the show would be "available to everyone, easily, whenever you want it."

Lemon also touted X as "the biggest space for free speech in the world," implying that he intends to cover controversial topics on the show without the restrictions he faced at CNN. "The Don Lemon Show will be found first on X, the biggest space for free speech in the world," Lemon wrote.

Joining a growing trend of media figures migrating to X, Lemon follows the footsteps of former Fox News host Tucker Carlson. Carlson, dismissed on the same day as Lemon, found success on X with his show, 'Tucker on X,' featuring prominent guests like ex-President Donald Trump.

The platform shift proved fruitful for Carlson, leading to the establishment of his streaming service, the 'Tucker Carlson Network.' Carlson welcomed Lemon's arrival to X, posting "Congratulations. It's a new world. Welcome."

Internet slams Don Lemon's new show announcement

The reaction on social media to Lemon's show announcement has been overwhelmingly negative. Comments have ranged from scathing criticism to indifference and predictions that the show will flop.

One X user dismissed the news, quipping, "Breaking: No one cares." Meanwhile, another sarcastically remarked, "All 12 of his fans must be so excited."

A third user outright rejected the show, stating, "There’s 30 minutes I won’t waste my time listening to, nor will most other people."

Echoing a similar sentiment, someone else commented, "No one else would take him."

Amid skepticism, criticism surfaced regarding Lemon's treatment of women. A user emphasized, "No one will watch. The way he treats women is horrendous." Anticipating potential negative engagement, another user predicted, "He coming to get ratio’d."
