NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former President Donald Trump joined co-hosts 'Fox & Friends' Will Cain, Rachel Campos, and Pete Hegseth for an interview following his conviction in the criminal hush money trial. A New York panel of 12 jury members unanimously found Trump guilty of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records on May 30. He is scheduled to be sentenced on July 11 and faces penalties from a fine to four years in prison on each count.

Amidst facing jail time himself, Trump claimed during the interview that he never called for his 2016 Democratic rival Hillary Clinton to be sent behind bars, even though he had made the demand multiple times at the time and turned 'Lock her up' into a slogan for his MAGA followers.

Donald Trump says he never called for Hillary Clinton to be 'locked up'

“You famously said, regarding Hillary Clinton, ‘Lock her up.’ You declined to do that as president,” co-host Cain told Trump, to which he replied, "I beat her. “It’s easier when you win. And they (his supporters) always said ‘lock her up,’ and I felt — and I could have done it, but I felt it would have been a terrible thing. And then this (criminal conviction) happened to me.”

"So I may feel differently about it, I can't tell you," he continued. "I'm not sure I can answer the question. Hillary Clinton - I didn't say 'lock her up,' but the people always said, 'Lock her up, lock her up.' Then we won, and I said pretty openly, 'Alright, come on, just relax, let go - we have got to make our country great.'"

According to The Hill, the presumptive GOP 2024 nominee had committed to investigating Clinton with a special counsel during his first presidential campaign, but one was never appointed after he was voted into the White House for his first term.

Internet accuses Donald Trump for 'gaslighting'

"Trump lies a lot. What's new?!?" a user wrote over the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) reacting to Trump's statements.

"Guy lied over 30,000 times in 4 years.. what’s another one?" echoed another.

"The pilot light is on for the gaslighting," jibed a third.

"Wow … that may be the biggest lie Trump has ever told … and there isn’t much that comes out of his mouth that isn’t a lie," chided a fourth user.

"How many lies is he up to now?" sarcastically asked a fifth.
