WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump once again took to his Truth Social platform on Monday, June 17, to demand that United States Supreme Court grant him full immunity from prosecution for any actions he took while in office, as per The Raw Story.

The post, characterized by its trademark all-caps style, hinted at potential retaliatory actions against Joe Biden if Trump's request is denied, suggesting a willingness to pursue charges against political opponents "for any reason."

Donald Trump hints he will have Joe Biden prosecuted if immunity plea fails

Trump's post read, "IF A PRESIDENT DOES NOT HAVE IMMUNITY, THE COURT WILL BE 'OPENING THE FLOODGATES' TO PROSECUTING FORMER PRESIDENTS," and added, "AN OPPOSING HOSTILE PARTY WILL BE DOING IT FOR ANY REASON, ALL OF THE TIME!"

Historically, the United States has never provided criminal immunity for presidents, managing to maintain its governance for nearly 250 years without such a provision. Trump, notably, is the first former president to face criminal charges and holds the dubious distinction of being the only president impeached twice during his single term.

Trump's legal troubles are substantial. He has been convicted on 34 felony counts related to falsifying business records to cover up hush-money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels.

Additionally, he faces charges for criminally obstructing government efforts to retrieve top-secret documents from his properties and conspiring to defraud the United States in a scheme to retain power after losing the 2020 presidential election.

The timeline and outcomes of Trump’s numerous legal challenges remain uncertain. At the heart of the matter is Special Counsel Jack Smith’s prosecution of Trump's attempts to overturn the 2020 election, including actions related to the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot, according to CNN.

A crucial decision by the Supreme Court on whether Trump is entitled to immunity could significantly impact the timing of his trials, particularly before the upcoming November election.

The US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit had already ruled unanimously that former presidents are not entitled to immunity from criminal prosecution. This ruling suggests that, barring a Supreme Court reversal, Trump’s trials could proceed swiftly.
