NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is no stranger to the spotlight, but his recent comparison of his upcoming Christmas flick 'Red One' to Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer' has left fans scratching their heads - and laughing.

The actor’s bold remarks raised eyebrows, and online critics aren’t holding back.

Dwayne Johnson calls 'Red One' a game-changer in IMAX

In an IMAX clip shared online, Dwayne Johnson, who stars alongside Chris Evans in the movie, recounted his experience watching 'Oppenheimer' while filming 'Red One.'

He revealed that he watched Christopher Nolan's magnum opus in the very theater where Nolan himself watches his films, even sitting in the director's preferred chair.

According to TMZ, "It was amazing," Johnson said, clearly impressed by the visuals and storytelling of the film.

However, he didn’t stop there. Johnson claimed that his own film, 'Red One', had a "game-changing" potential in IMAX theaters, specifically pointing to its stunning visuals.

“If you put the film in an IMAX theater, it would be 'game over,'" he proclaimed.

While the actor’s enthusiasm for his film’s visuals is understandable, his comparison to 'Oppenheimer' — one of the most visually acclaimed films of the past decade — has not gone over well with many movie buffs online.

The backlash was swift and sharp, with accounts like DiscussingFilm pointing out the glaring differences in reception.

'Red One' currently holds a dismal 33% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while 'Oppenheimer' sits comfortably at 93%.

Can 'Red One' compete with the epic success of 'Oppenheimer'?

'Oppenheimer' was reportedly a cultural event, boasting a star-studded ensemble cast that included Cillian Murphy, Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Robert Downey Jr, Emily Blunt, Gary Oldman, and more.

The film, alongside 'Barbie,' was a major part of the box office resurgence last year.

As for 'Red One,' it’s not exactly going to be competing for the same type of accolades—or IMAX screen space.

Unlike 'Oppenheimer,' which had a grand IMAX release, 'Red One' will see a more modest rollout.

But for those curious to see if Johnson’s visual confidence holds true, the movie will hit theaters on November 15.
