Blunt, well-known for her diverse acting abilities, revealed during an interview with Total Film that her role as Jody Moreno in the upcoming action-comedy 'The Fall Guy' takes cues from Gerwig.

Playing the part of a film director faced with unexpected challenges when her main actor disappears, Blunt's character forms an unlikely partnership with Ryan Gosling's Colt Seavers, a stuntman who also happens to be her former partner.

"With the warmth and the charm, I guess there's a little Greta in there. She was a mix of a few other people I'd met and pulled from," Blunt expressed, shedding light on the creative process behind shaping her character.

Emily Blunt's 'The Fall Guy' character was elevated from make-up artist to director

Greta Gerwig's film 'Barbie', featuring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, broke box office records by earning more than $1.4 billion. It also achieved a significant milestone as the first live-action movie directed solely by a woman to surpass the billion-dollar mark globally.

The filmmakers behind 'The Fall Guy' made a deliberate choice to elevate Blunt's character from a make-up artist to a director, adding depth and weight to the storyline.

"Emily's role was a make-up artist when we sold it, and we converted it to first-time directing right before we gave her a very rough draft. It made it feel like [the character] had more pressure on her," explained Kelly McCormick, director David Leitch's producing partner and wife.

Blunt further elaborated on the collaborative process of shaping Moreno, stating, "We all kind of built her together, because I think, maybe in the original script, she was quite severe, and that sort of tough director. But I think, for me, it's always more interesting to play someone who's in a situation where they're way over their head."
