Ella Emhoff addresses rumors of mental breakdown after Harris' loss: 'Nothing wrong with showing emotion'
WASHINGTON, DC: Vice President Kamala Harris' stepdaughter, Ella Emhoff, has refuted claims that she was hospitalized due to a mental breakdown after Donald Trump's electoral win.
Ella Emhoff, the daughter of Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, has taken to social media to address and refute false rumors being circulated about her.
Ella Emhoff denies mental breakdown rumors
Ella Emhoff was captured in tears as Kamala Harris gave her concession speech at Howard University on November 6.
Before this, she had posted a photo of herself crying on her Instagram story with the caption, "Truly no words. We are all going to get through this. It just f*****g hurts like a b***h right now and that's OK."
The 25-year-old has recently posted another update on Instagram, vehemently denying claims that she was hospitalized following Trump's decisive election win over her stepmother.
"There's a rumor about me having a mental breakdown and getting checked into a hospital. Not true," in an Instagram story, Ella posted a picture with her pet dog.
"Also f**k you if you're out there spreading that. There's nothing wrong with showing emotion and crying. Anyone who says there is, probably needs a good cry. I've struggled with my mental health my whole life and I'm not ashamed of it," she further added. "I've literally just been playing fetch with Jerry."
Who started rumors about Ella Emhoff's mental breakdown?
An account supporting Trump on X, previously known as Twitter, and followed by over 125,000 people, was among those spreading the untrue allegations concerning Ella Emhoff.
"Woah! Ella Emhoff, Kamala's step-daughter, suffered a mental breakdown yesterday afternoon due to the grief from Kamala's humiliating loss, and was admitted to an in-patient mental health crisis center in NY," the Bad Hombre account has made a post.

Kerstin Emhoff defends daughter Ella Emhoff
Kerstin Emhoff, Ella Emhoff's mother, refuted the claim in her response to the post, NewsWeek reports.
"More MAGA bs against my family. Leave my kids alone!!! Ella is doing great and spending a lovely day with her mom," Kirsten wrote. "Having the ability to show your emotions is something we should all hope for. It's OK to not feel great right now. We aren't letting anyone break our family down."
In her Soft Pins Substack newsletter, Ella conveyed the emotions she felt following Harris' defeat.
"Ooof... What. A. Week," she wrote on November 8. "I feel like we all need this extra this week. I know we are all feeling a lot of emotions right now. That's normal, and it would be weird if we weren't. I know I've gone through about 10 cycles of sadness, rage, and stress—and that was just this morning."
She added, "I think it's important to feel them all so they don't fester inside."
Trump is projected to win Arizona, securing victories in all seven key battleground states and achieving an anticipated total of 312 Electoral College votes.
