Expert reveals reason behind Selena Gomez’s shock weight loss as she flaunts lean figure at SAG Awards
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Selena Gomez was the talk of the town as she arrived at the 31st Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards at Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall on Sunday, February 23.
The actress was looking very slim, as compared to her earlier appearances, making many wonder if she had done anything to get the look.
Some of the online users even speculated that she might have started taking Ozempic like many Hollywood stars to lose weight.

But now Dr Dennis Schimpf, a board-certified plastic surgeon, has weighed in on the topic as he told the Daily Mail that the 32-year-old actress looked “definitely thin” but she isn't “wasting or gaunt, which is normally kind of the giveaway.”
The medical expert continued, “Hers would be the hardest to know for sure. I would be surprised if she had done it just because of her other medical problems and her starting weight not being really heavy.”
“I've read a few things about her and that she kind of adopted a more healthy lifestyle and exercises. A lot of times, it's not necessarily just one thing like the GLP treatment, but also kind of a combination of lifestyle as well as dietary habits,” Dr Schimpf added.

The doctor was referring to Gomez’s revelation of suffering from small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), which she disclosed in November 2024.
Mayo Clinic states that the condition happens “when there is an abnormal increase in the overall bacterial population in the small intestine — particularly types of bacteria not commonly found in that part of the digestive tract.”
Calling out her critics, the ‘Emilia Perez’ star reportedly said, “This makes me sick. I have SEBO in my small intestine. It flares up. I don't care that I don't look like a stick figure. I don't have that body. End of story. No, I am NOT a victim. I'm just human.”

Also in 2023, the ‘Only Murders in the Building’ actress, who had undergone a kidney transplant in September 2017, blasted body-shamers in a TikTok video as she mentioned that her lupus medication results in a lot of weight fluctuations for her.
She shared, as per Us Weekly, “I tend to hold a lot of water weight and that happens very normally. And then when I’m off of [my medication], I tend to lose weight.”
“I just wanted to say and encourage anyone out there who feels any sort of shame for exactly what they’re going for and nobody knows the real story — I just want people to know that you’re beautiful and you’re wonderful and, yeah, maybe we have days where we feel like s**t but I would much rather be healthy and take care of myself,” Gomez added.
