Fans miss Taylor Swift at Chiefs' Super Bowl parade, celebrate by playing singer's 'Bad Blood' track
KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI: The Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Parade missed one notable figure from cheering the crowd as fans gathered to honor the triumphant team's victory.
Travis Kelce's pop star girlfriend Taylor Swift skipped the parade on Wednesday, February 14, a celebration of the team's Super Bowl LVIII win on Sunday, February 11.
Why did Taylor Swift miss the Kansas City Chiefs parade?
Confirming the 'Karma' singer's absence from the parade, Melbourne TV station 10 News First reported that Swift has already jetted off to Australia to resume her Eras Tour.
"Taylor Swift is officially on her way here," the station confirmed in their tweet ahead of her kickoff show on Friday, February 16, in Melbourne.
Swift will also be performing in Melbourne on February 17 and 18, and also in Sydney from February 23 to February 26.
Kansas City Chiefs's Super Bowl victory
Cementing their status as one of the NFL's all-powerful franchises, the Chief's journey to the Super Bowl has been a remarkable one following their victories in Super Bowl IV (after beating the Minnesota Vikings in 1969), Super Bowl LIV (after beating the San Francisco 49ers in 2020), Super Bowl LXII (after beating the Philadelphia Eagles) and their latest victory in Super Bowl LXIII.
Securing a historic win over the San Francisco 49ers, the team was led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Swift, who flew back from Tokyo to attend the game, watched the match from the suite alongside her friends Blake Lively, Ice Spice, Lana Del Ray, Miles Teller, and Keleigh Teller. The 'Anti-Hero' songstress' family and Kelce's parents also joined her at the suite.
Following the team's victory, Swift rushed down to the field to congratulate her boyfriend Kelce.
"Thank you for coming baby. Thank you for the support. Thank you for making it halfway across the world. You’re the best baby, the absolute best," the tight end told Swift at the time, according to PageSix.
Chiefs fans and Swifties upset at Taylor Swift's absence from the Championship parade
While Swift had other commitments that led to her absence from the parade, Chiefs fans and Swifties hoped to catch a glimpse of the singer cheering her beau during the celebrations, but are now left disappointed.
"Bummer. I wanted her to share her experience and excitement for the Chiefs Superbowl victory," a user wrote on X (formerly Twitter) while another opined, "There goes the ratings."
