COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA: Confused President Joe Biden called his predecessor, Donald Trump the "sitting President" during a speech in South Carolina, adding to his list of slip-ups, reported Daily Mail.

The 81-year-old President made the gaffe during speech at a dinner celebrating South Carolina and its significant base of black voters in his reelection campaign on Saturday, January 27.

"The American consumers are facing real confidence in the economy we're building. Let me tell you who else is noticing that- Donald Trump," Biden said.

Fumbling through the speech, he added, "Did you see what he recently said about.. he wants to, he wants to see the economy crash this year? A Sitting President."

The recent blunder adds to the incumbent's list of confused speeches that left many concerned about his cognitive ability to run for a second term.

Nevertheless, Trump is also not far behind regarding speech blunders. Not long ago, the ex-Presidnet drew flak for mixing up Nikki Haley's name with former House Speaker Nancy Peloci's while speaking about the Jan 6 Capitol insurrection.

Biden's inaugural primary is set for February 24 in South Carolina as the Democratic Party broke a 50-year tradition, aiming for diverse voter input first.

Despite the slip, President Biden went hard on the Republican frontrunner, calling him out for his takes on the current US economy.

Biden said that Trump 'knows' the nation's economy is 'good and strong, and getting stronger'.

"He knows that while it's good for America, it's bad for him politically," The President added.

The presidential contenders' fight regarding the state of the US economy has been a debating point. Trump, who earlier expressed his wish that the economy should crash in the coming 12 months before he entered the White House for his second term, had received widespread backlash.

The former President, who led the Republican primary with a sizeable dominance, has been the clear frontrunner after his resounding victories in Iowa and New Hampshire.

The chances of a Biden-Trump rematch are highly likely if the ex-President's momentum continues ahead of sole GOP opponent Nikki Haley.
