WASHINGTON, DC: Vice President Kamala Harris found herself in the middle of a rather awkward moment during a recent swearing-in ceremony.

Bruce Fischer, the husband of Republican Senator Deb Fischer from Nebraska, flat-out refused to shake her hand after his wife was sworn in.

Kamala Harris snubbed by Senator Deb Fischer's husband

After Senator Deb Fischer was sworn in, she and Harris shared the usual smiles, handshakes, and polite thank yous. But things went south fast when Harris turned to Bruce with her hand stretched out saying, “Thank you. Congratulations to you."

Bruce, holding onto a cane with his right hand, gave her a quick glance and muttered, “Thank you,” before looking away from the VP, with no handshake or eye contact.

To make it even more awkward, Harris joked about how visibly uncomfortable Bruce seemed. “It’s okay, I won’t bite,” she teased as he avoided her earlier in the ceremony, trying to figure out where to stand.

She even raised her eyebrow at Senator Fischer, according to the Daily Mail.

Kamala Harris trolled on social media

MAGA followers on social media wasted no time turning the snub into a political statement and hailed Bruce Fischer's actions as "powerful."

“WOW! Nebraska Senator Deb Fischer’s husband REFUSED to shake Kamala’s hand and can barely look her in the eye. Thank you, sir, for representing every American whose lives were destroyed by her and Joe’s policies,” MAGA commentator David Harris Jr posted on X.

“This man is my kind of man. Kamala went in for a handshake and was promptly embarrassed. I think she’s realizing that nobody likes her,” quipped Gunther Eagleman.

Several other MAGA supporters had a field day with the snub.

"Thank you sir, You did this for over 300 Million Americans whose voices were silenced," one user posted on X.

"MAN! That was so good to watch 'INTEGRITY OVER COURTESY.' Mr Fischer I apologise for not knowing who you are but I can guarantee you that I won't ever forget you," another said.

"That’s a powerful statement without saying a word. Thank you, sir, for standing up and showing what so many Americans feel about the damage caused by their policies. Actions like this speak louder than words!" read a comment.

"Good for him, he has a backbone that I hope his wife entails as well! No pretending get the job done!" someone else remarked.

"He probably knows a lot of stuff we don’t know. Good man! Love that he sticks to his morals and integrity, and isn't playing politics (and that it was caught on video)," one individual offered.

Did Bruce Fischer really snub Kamala Harris?

Bruce Fischer was holding a cane in his right hand—the same hand he’d need to shake Harris’ hand. So, was he just physically unable to do it, or was this an intentional snub? That is something yet to be established.

While her husband’s handshake drama was making waves online, Senator Deb Fischer remained focused on her swearing-in ceremony.

She later released a statement saying, “I am humbled by the faith and trust Nebraskans have placed in me as I take this oath for the third time. I will not break that trust, and I will not betray that faith. I ask for your prayers for wisdom and strength that I may know and follow God’s guidance as I continue to serve the people and the state I love.”
