NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Fox News host Greg Gutfeld doubted President Joe Biden's ability to hold the top office for the remainder of his term after he stepped down from the 2024 presidential race, during the opening monologue of the Monday, July 22 episode of 'Gutfeld!'

The comedian also claimed that backing out of candidacy after winning the required number of delegates to become the party nominee was "an attack on democracy," in line with the Republican stance.

Similar arguments about Biden being unfit to serve as president over the next four months have been made by multiple GOP lawmakers, including Speaker Mike Johnson and Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance, since Biden made his announcement to drop out on Sunday.

Greg Gutfeld's statements on Joe Biden

"If Joe Biden's too far gone to campaign, how can he remain commander-in-chief until January 20th? Shouldn't they put him on like an ice floe and give it a shove before his addled brain starts World War III?" the comedian said on Monday while addressing the weekend's development.

"But if Joe can still do the job, then didn't we just witness a ‘coup’ orchestrated by Obama, Clooney, the big coastal donors, and the media who just replaced a candidate simply because he was polling below Trump, which according to Dems means he was literally polling below Hitler. But talk about election interference."

He harped on the incumbent being in the race long enough to secure the necessary number of delegates to ensure his nomination, noting "Look, Biden won those delegates, and that means he's the nominee. And like his toy fire truck, you can't take it away from him because it's his. Well, I guess you could take it away from him because they just did."

The Democrats replaced Biden, insisted Gutfeld, "because it looked like they were going to lose. That's anti-democratic. There's the rub. If they say it wasn't because Biden was going to lose, but because of his impairment, then he has to resign because then he's unfit to run and how the hell can he handle foreign policy when he's loopy?"

"Then Dems should be saying the same words I hear at an ugly man convention: ‘get out of here.’ But if they say he is fit to be president, then why drop out of the race? You see, they painted themselves into a corner and of all places, the Oval Office."

"The system is delegates nominate a candidate, not delegates nominate a candidate until he doesn't look like he's going to win. That's an attack on democracy," he added.

Internet claims Greg Gutfeld 'doesn't understand'

Netizens slammed Gutfeld over his monologue, pointing out that serving as president for the next few months was very different from undertaking the burden of a national campaign. The following tweets in response to his monologue demonstrate the prevalent view on X.

"Because they are different jobs," wrote a user.

"Because he doesn’t have to hit the campaign trail and can focus on his presidential duties…that’s how!" stated another.

"You're right, if I'm not able to physically load the back of a UPS truck, I don't have the ability to decide what to order off Amazon. This is very good and smart," mocked a third.

"Greg Gutfeld doesn’t seem to understand that campaigning for president and BEING President requires two different skill sets," jibed a fourth.

"Trump managed 4 years in the white house on reduced mental capacity. I imagine Joe will be fine," chided a fifth.
