WASHINGTON, DC: It’s crunch time and an unexpected drama between Vice President Kamala Harris's campaign and the Biden White House is heating up. Just weeks before Election Day, there's some serious tension brewing between the two camps.

At the center of it all are President Joe Biden’s interactions with Florida's Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, particularly following two recent hurricanes.

According to a source within Harris’ campaign, the “White House is lacking someone in the room thinking first and foremost about how things would affect the campaign,” as reported by Axios.

Kamala Harris vs Ron DeSantis

It all started last week when Vice President Harris tried to take center stage in the aftermath of two hurricanes that hit Florida. She criticized Governor DeSantis for allegedly dodging her call, labeling him as “utterly irresponsible” and “selfish.” But DeSantis has maintained that Harris wasn’t even involved in the disaster relief process.

The Daily Wire pointed out that the vice president didn’t hold any official role in the recovery efforts, thereby making her comments look more like political theater than genuine concern for Floridians.

What's more? As Harris went on the offensive, Biden’s team was singing a different tune. They made it clear on social media that the president was actively working with DeSantis to address the situation.

Biden posted on X, “Tonight, I spoke with Florida Governor DeSantis and Tampa Mayor Castor for firsthand reports on Hurricane Helene's recovery and preparations for Hurricane Milton. My Administration is ready to support both leaders and the people of Florida with any further resources they may need.”

Governor DeSantis didn't hold back when responding to Harris’ allegations. He said that he had “never received calls from her before” and pointed out that Harris had “no role” in any of his administration’s disaster response efforts.

Harris’ interview vs Biden’s press conference

In a move that seemed to fuel the fire, Harris made an appearance on 'The View' for what many considered to be a softball interview. But Biden held a press conference at the very same time, where he talked about his collaboration with DeSantis on hurricane relief.

It wasn’t just a simple update - Biden went on to tout his relationship with the Florida governor. “The governor of Florida has been cooperative. He said he’s gotten all that he needs. I talked to him again yesterday, and I said, ‘You’re doing a great job. It’s all being done. We thank you for it. And I literally gave my personal phone number to call,” Biden remarked.

And just like that, Biden stole the spotlight from Harris.

But that wasn’t the only eyebrow-raising moment. During the press conference, Biden seemed to undercut Harris’ positioning as a fresh voice in the campaign by reminding everyone that she was deeply tied to all his policy decisions.

“Well, she’s — I’m in constant contact with her,” Biden said. “She’s aware of where — we all — we’re singing from the same song sheet. She helped pass all the laws that are being employed now.”

“She was a major player in everything we’ve done, including passage of legislation, which we were told we could never pass,” he added. “And so, she’s been — and her — her staff is interlocked with mine in terms of all the things we’re doing.”

Harris trolled on social media following Biden's comments

Many on social media mocked Harris after Biden appeared to throw her under the bus.

"Biden doesn't like Kamala and low-key doesn't want her to win," one posted on X.

"The joy is gone," a second user quipped.

"I think Joe has revenge on his mind. Watch closely, and keep an eye on Jill," another offered.

"Well [it] is about time, after all he had nothing to lose, they turned their back on him. So do you blame him, I don't. Still the one that carries the Seal of the Presidency like it or not," read a comment.

"I mean she stole his job, but has forced him to work the remainder of his contract…when has that ever worked out well," someone else chimed in.

"Biden is the President, and he takes every opportunity to demonstrate this fact," another noted.
