MONTCLAIR, NEW JERSEY: In a controversial interview that sparked outrage across social media, NFL star Aaron Rodgers praised Russian President Vladimir Putin while harshly criticizing US President Joe Biden.

While talking with Tucker Carlson, the New York Jets quarterback lauded Putin as "thoughtful" and "smart" while expressing a desire for Biden to mirror Putin's knowledge of history, as per Daily Mail.

In an interview with Carlson that aired on Tuesday, May 14, Rodgers discussed various political topics, ranging from Covid-19 vaccines to conspiracy theories.

Early in the interview, Rodgers referenced Carlson's infamous interview with Putin, saying: "You did one of the most controversial interviews...when you went to Russia and did Putin. How did it feel coming back? Because anybody who watched the interview was like, number one, it was f**king awesome. Number two, Putin came off as an interesting, thoughtful, smart individual."

Rodgers continued, "If you've read 1984, the base game plan of government control, you have to have an enemy, and you have to slander that enemy regardless if you know anything about them."

"I think a lot of people are like, 'Oh, Putin apologists are like, whitewashing all the stuff that he's done to different people.' I was just like, no, I'd love to see Joe Biden give an interview where he can speak on the history of the United States in the same way that Putin talked about the history of his country," Rodgers explained.

Rodgers, known for his patriotism and support for the US military, also expressed his frustration with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's address to the US Congress in December 2022. Zelensky wore green military fatigues during the appearance, which Rodgers found disrespectful.

"'[You're] being canceled by the people who have just bowed down and given interviews from their knees to the Zelenskys of the world. It's wild," Rodgers remarked, adding, "As this guy comes over in f**king an outfit you'd wear to the store on a Sunday morning to ask Congress for another $100 billion, is wild."

Rodgers and Carlson also questioned the direction of US politics, suggesting that the American population is being manipulated by the political elite with far-left ideologies.

Aaron Rodgers faces backlash online for comments about Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin

The internet was quick to roast Rodgers for his comments about Biden and Putin. One X user quipped, "Football was the only thing holding his mind together. The man is roont." Another remarked, "Metamorphosis is complete with this clown."

A third chimed in, suggesting Rodgers had been "hit in the head, once too often," while a fourth ridiculed his intelligence, saying, "It’s not even amusing, but he really thinks he’s cooking all the time and he has the IQ of an oven mitt."

Another user accused Rodgers of treason, stating, "Oh looky. Aaron Rodgers isn’t just a moron, he’s a goddamn traitor. Looks like this season instead of trying to break passing records, he’s going for the all-time Russian title."

One user labeled him a "prime suspect for a brain worm," while another simply remarked, "Wow. Dude is fully immersed into the crazy." Finally, another user bluntly stated, "Guy who is dumber than a box of hair has feelings about things."
