Hilaria Baldwin says husband Alec Baldwin's age makes it 'difficult' for him to ask for mental help

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Alec Baldwin is opening up about his struggles with mental health.
The actor spoke with his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, about how he has handled his internal battles in a preview clip of TLC’s 'The Baldwins.' The episode is set to air on March 9.
Hilaria Baldwin says Alec Baldwin’s generation makes asking for help ‘difficult’
Hilaria Baldwin noted that her husband’s way of dealing with personal struggles might stem from societal expectations during his upbringing.
“Alec is a man born in the 1950s and asking for help is a difficult thing,” she said in a confessional interview, as per E! News.
"You’ve got to be a man, you’ve got to be strong, you’ve got to be all these different kinds of things. But I think that asking for help is not something that was modeled for him," she continued.
She added, “Hopefully he can realize that it's OK.”
Alec Baldwin admits to ‘white-knuckling’ his struggles
Alec Baldwin explained his approach to dealing with challenges and how he has tried to control outcomes throughout his life.
“For me, my nature [is] to obsess about my problems and try to solve them,” he told Hilaria, as per the publication.

"I've white-knuckled that steering wheel my whole life. I've tried to make the car go where I wanted it to go and taken years off my life in the process. Now, I’d like to stop doing that," the 'It’s Complicated' star said.
Hilaria revealed she has encouraged her husband to continue making “small shifts” in his mindset and habits to improve his well-being.

Hilaria Baldwin previously revealed that Alec Baldwin was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) following the accidental shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of 'Rust' in 2021.
She spoke about the deep impact the incident had on him.
“Everyone who is close to Alec has seen his mental health decline,” she shared on the February 23 episode of 'The Baldwins.'
“He says in his darkest moments, ‘If an accident had to have happened this day, why am I still here? Why couldn't it have been me?’” she said, as per MEAWW.
Although the involuntary manslaughter charges against Alec were dismissed in July, the actor acknowledged how much he has relied on his family during the difficult period.
“From the bottom of my soul,” he told Hilaria, adding “I don’t know where I would be if I didn’t have you or these kids."
