LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Oscar-winning actress Sally Field reportedly returned to social media after being inspired by Vice President Kamala Harris' White House bid.

The 77-year-old announced her return to the world of social media after the Democratic nominee's speech at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday, August 22, suggesting it revived her hope.

In her first post on a brand-new Instagram account, she shared two pictures of herself with her dog Dash.

"I've not been on social media. Not since it became public toilet paper for our former crook of a President. But 'hope is making a comeback.' So here I am," wrote Field in the caption, taking a dig at Donald Trump.

The 'Steel Magnolias' star has garnered more than 4,000 followers since returning to the platform.

In a second post, Sally Field could be seen sitting on a table with her back to a TV playing Kamala Harris' address from the closing night of the DNC.

The 'Forrest Gump' actress has been an open critic of Trump. After the real estate mogul's victory over Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election, she attacked him on Chelsea Handler's Netflix show over his inexperience and hypocrisy.

At the time, she said, "If you look at his past, if you look at his history, there is no evidence that he can do one single thing that he says he's going to do," as per The Hollywood Reporter.

"He has shown to be everything that he accuses and has accused Hillary Clinton of being. It is now evident he is all of those things, every single thing that he accused her of," noted the two-time Golden Globe winner.

She was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2014.

One wrote, "I hope Ms Fields makes a difference. Lord knows, we’re all trying to help people realize there is only ONE CHOICE!" Whereas another remarked, "Surprise! Another washed-up actress trying to stay relevant."

"Welcome back, Sally. Add your powerful voice in support of Kamala," added a person, while someone else said, "She was always overrated."

"Same...this movement is too important to sit out, we cannot ever go back," expressed one more, agreeing with Field. An individual slammed the actress writing, "Oh joy …another out-of-touch multimillionaire elitist here to share her thought and recapture the attention her career no longer gets her."

One shared a GIF expressing joy at Field's return to social media with the caption "Sally's back." On the other hand, a comment read, "Geez, these Hollywood sheep are just pathetic."
