'Hurt' Britney Spears posts throwback pic with sister, crops out mom Lynne amid family feud
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Britney Spears has raised eyebrows by cropping her mother, Lynne Spears, out of a throwback photo featuring her and sister Jamie Lynn Spears from 2002. The pop star posted the image on Saturday, February 3, seemingly sending a message amid the family's history of strained relationships.
While Britney and Jamie Lynn have had a rocky past, the sisters appeared on good terms in the photo. However, the cropping of Lynne from the image suggests ongoing tensions between Britney and her mother, despite their apparent reconciliation in December 2023.
Britney Spears' altered family photo grabs attention
Britney Spears' relationship with her mother has been complicated, with Britney blaming Lynne for her role in the abusive conservatorship the pop star endured for 13 years.
The recent photo edit hints at possible underlying issues between Britney and Lynne, casting a shadow on their previously celebrated reunion.
“Throwback!!! I can’t stop laughing," the 'Toxic' singer wrote alongside the image, which showed the 68-year-old's hands in the corner.
The singer seemed to have sorted differences with her mother in December 2023, as Lynne and Britney celebrated the 42-year-old’s birthday together.
“They were two peas in a pod,” said a source.
Another insider revealed, "Her meeting with her mom went OK, but there's still a lot of hurt there, so they haven't quite reconciled."
In addition to her complex family dynamics, Britney Spears has been in the public eye for a recent spat with ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake. The former couple publicly exchanged digs after Britney expressed regret for her portrayal of Timberlake in her memoir, 'The Woman in Me'.
Justin Timberlake, however, responded with mockery during a concert, refusing to accept Britney's apology.

Britney Spears has seemingly responded to comments made by her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake during his birthday concert in New York.
Timberlake, before performing 'Cry Me a River,' a song about his split from Spears in 2002, addressed the audience with the statement, "I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize to absolutely f**king nobody.”
In response, Spears took to Instagram, posting an image of a basketball hoop with a caption that read, "Someone told me someone was talking s**t about me on the streets!!! Do you want to bring it to the court or will you go home crying to your mom like you did last time??? I’m not sorry!!!"
This exchange follows Spears' recent apology for some comments about Timberlake in her memoir, 'The Woman in Me' where she detailed their past relationship.
Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, who were in a relationship from 1999 to 2002, have been in the public eye recently due to Spears' memoir and Timberlake's concert comments.
Spears wrote in her book about Timberlake urging her to get an abortion and manipulating the narrative surrounding their breakup.
Timberlake's latest single, 'Selfish', also reignited public interest in their past, prompting Spears to express her admiration for the song and apologize for any offense caused by her memoir.
