“I just need to meet this man,” West gushed (as quoted by the Daily Mail). “This is my favorite artist. You see I’m saying favorite artist — everything, not specifically production, the trip. Back then there were so many rules to hip-hop, and he broke all of them.”

It's worth noting that Diddy was once regarded as not only a trendsetter but rather a trendbreaker — and a blueprint Kanye aspired to follow. West went on to describe how Diddy’s ability to bend and rewrite the rules of hip-hop left a lasting impression on him.
Kanye wasn’t just crediting Diddy for his musical chops—he also dropped a bombshell about how Diddy influenced his personal life. In the same BET Awards speech, Kanye hinted that Diddy played a role in his relationship with now-ex-wife Kim Kardashian.
