ATLANTA. GEORGIA: Former President Donald Trump is planning to attend the hearing of Fulton County DA Fani Willis's romantic relationship with lead prosecutor Nathan Wade on the election subversion case, reported The Washington Post.

Two anonymous individuals told the portal that Trump hopes to travel to Atlanta, Georgia, to attend the hearing on Thursday, February 15, marking his first appearance in the state court since his indictment along with 18 others in August 2023.

The ex-president's appearance in the highly anticipated case could draw wider attention in light of his successful attempts to turn courtroom developments into campaign stops as he nears the Republican nomination for the 2024 presidential election despite the 91 felony charges across four indictments.

However, a spokeswoman for the Fulton County Sheriff's Office, responsible for courthouse security, stated she had no knowledge of Trump's plans.

DA Fani Willis faces potential compulsion to testify at the hearing

Trump's reported plan to attend the hearing raises anticipation because, as per the New York Post report, the Fulton County DA is likely to be forced to testify before the court on Thursday about when her relationship with Wade began.

Putting an end to the allegations raised by the co-defendant of the case Michael Roman, Willis, on February 2, admitted to being romantically involved with Wade. She hired the special prosecutor to lead the investigation against the former President over his attempts to overturn the 2020 election result.

Trump, soon after Willis's acknowledgment, weighed in on the issue, slamming her and claiming the "SCAM" against him "IS TOTALLY DISCREDITED & OVER!"

Based on an ABC News report, Judge Scott McAfee, who oversees the case, warned of Willis's "disqualification" if the existence of any financial benefits is proven.

"I think it's clear that disqualification can occur if evidence is produced demonstrating an actual conflict or the appearance of one. The state has admitted a relationship existed. And so what remains to be proven is the existence and extent of any financial benefit, again, if there ever was one," the judge said during the hearing on February 12.

"And so because I think it is possible that the facts alleged by the defendant could result in disqualification, I think an evidentiary hearing must occur to establish the record on those core allegations," McAfee added.

The DA publicly admitted her romantic involvement with the special prosecutor after co-defendant Roman filed papers in January seeking to remove the criminal charges against him and disqualify Willis, alleging she financially profited by hiring Wade. However, she has staunchly denied accusations of financial benefits.

To defend herself, the DA filed a motion to quash multiple subpoenas brought by Roman. The judge, however, deferred the ruling until Thursday's hearing.
