WASHINGTON, DC: Republicans criticized the White House on Friday for two remarks regarding the deaths of Jocelyn Nungaray and Rachel Morin that omitted to mention that the victims were purportedly killed by illegal immigrants.

The statements, which were released this week a few days apart, expressed "condolences" to the families of the victims but refrained from discussing ongoing legal proceedings. The White House declared that all guilty parties "should be held accountable, to the fullest extent of the law" in each instance.

Suspect in Rachel Morin's murder was arrested earlier this month

Victor Antonio Martinez Hernandez, a 23-year-old El Salvadorian who entered the country illegally, was taken into custody earlier this month by the authorities on suspicion of killing Morin, a 37-year-old mother of five who was brutally raped and killed in August close to a hiking trail in Maryland.

"We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Rachel Morin," a White House spokesperson told Fox News on Tuesday, June 18. "We cannot comment on active law enforcement cases. But fundamentally, we believe that people should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law if they are found to be guilty."

Venezuelan couple suspect are linked to Jocelyn Nungaray's death

Jocelyn Nungaray, 12, was found dead in a creek in Houston on Monday. The girl was allegedly strangled to death by Johan Jose Rangel Martinez, 21, and Franklin Jose Pena Ramos, 26, who are both immigrants from Venezuela, according to the Houston Police Department.

"Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of Jocelyn Nungaray," a White House spokesperson told NBC News Friday. "We cannot comment on active law enforcement cases," the spokesperson continued. "But fundamentally, anyone found guilty of this type of heinous and shocking crime should be held accountable, to the fullest extent of the law."

Republicans lashed out at the statements issued by the Joe Biden's administration

Republicans blasted the remarks, which were made days after each case made national news, and attacked the border policies of the Biden administration.

"Crooked Joe Biden is a disgrace," the Trump campaign said Friday on social media, per Fox News. "The brutal murders of these Americans is on the hands of Biden — and the evil Biden migrants he released into our country."

"Shameful," said Senator Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala, "Innocent people murdered by illegal immigrants and the @WhiteHouse still REFUSES to accept responsibility."

"Pathetic," wrote Kim George, a GOP candidate for Congress in Arizona's 1st Congressional District. "Weak leadership is to blame for these senseless deaths. Nothing can be said to change what happened, but the families deserve better. They deserve #justice."

Rachel Morin and Jocelyn Nungaray's murders fueled GOP attacks on Joe Biden's immigration policies

GOP attacks on Biden's immigration policies have been bolstered by the deaths of Morin and Nungaray, as well as the reported murder of Georgia college student Laken Riley by an undocumented immigrant before them.

Republicans are allegedly undermining border security, according to the White House and the Biden campaign, after GOP resistance caused a bipartisan immigration bill to fail in the Senate.

Presumptive Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump allegedly urged his Senate allies to sabotage the agreement.

"Donald Trump is making Americans less safe by blocking the border deal," the Biden campaign told Fox News in a statement.

GOP-controlled House Committee says Joe Biden's border policies 'allowed' the murders

An analysis released on Friday by the GOP-controlled House Committee on Homeland Security identified a number of Biden border policies that they believe contributed to the tragedies.

The committee criticized the Biden administration and the Department of Homeland Security for rolling back many of Trump's policies, such as requiring asylum seekers to wait in Mexico while their claims are being handled and restoring catch-and-release.

Additionally, it stated that Congress-authorized space already in detention has not been used, nor has the administration asked for the necessary funding to expand that space.

Homeland Security Chairman Mark Green says tragedies could have been 'avoided'

Regarding the bipartisan Senate agreement, House Republicans contended that it would have continued to allow the suspected citizens of Venezuela to carry out their alleged offenses by allowing them to enter the nation if they had been among the first 5,000 individuals encountered on any given day before a week of encounters documented at that level.

"My heart aches for these women and their families and loved ones. These tragedies could have been avoided if the Biden administration would simply enforce the laws they swore to uphold. It’s truly that simple," said Homeland Security Chairman Mark Green, R-Tenn.

He added, "Americans no longer feel safe in their own communities and neighborhoods. It does not have to be this way. Our Committee will continue to do everything possible to ensure justice for these victims, and accountability for the public officials ultimately responsible for these tragedies."

Joe Biden announces multiple executive actions

The president, who has come under fire recently for how he has handled the situation at the border, has announced a number of executive actions that are intended to change the immigration laws in the US.

The latest move, which was unveiled on Tuesday and provides about 500,000 undocumented spouses and family members of American citizens with a path to legal status, has drawn criticism from those who believe it will encourage more unauthorized border crossings.

"The president may think our homeland security is some kind of game that he can try to use for political points, but Americans know this amnesty plan will only incentivize more illegal immigration and endanger Americans," said Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La, after Biden's announcement.

Internet says the White House 'doesn’t care' about Rachel Morin and Jocelyn Nungaray

Netizens criticized the Biden administration for showing a lack of sympathy and onus in the deaths of Nungaray and Morin.

One X (formerly Twitter) user echoed, "The White House doesn’t care about these people!"

Another added, "Yeah, that's weak sauce from the White House. Deaths are always a tragedy, but to downplay it like that? It reeks of politics over people. The families deserve better than empty words."

"It's disheartening to see such a response from the White House, especially in times when we need strong leadership and empathy. Social justice movements remind us of the power of our collective voice in demanding better," wrote another.

"They don't care, because it doesn't fit their narrative," slammed one.

Another chimed in, "They could care less about Americans. It’s past time this criminal be impeached and all his henchmen thrown in jail. What a disgusting individual to call President."
